Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Box Office Is Just $282M Away From Continuing A Franchise Streak

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth‘s box office is just $282 million away from continuing a major franchise streak. Directed by Gareth Edwards with a script by the franchise’s original screenwriter David Koepp, the new Jurᴀssic World movie follows a team journeying to an island that was once used as a dinosaur research facility to collect samples essential for developing a treatment for heart disease.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth‘s cast introduces several high-profile stars to the franchise, including two-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson (Marriage Story, Jojo Rabbit), two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book), Bridgerton breakout and Emmy nominee Jonathan Bailey (Fellow Travelers), Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland), The Lincoln Lawyer star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein.

Now, since its theatrical release on July 2, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has grossed $718 million at the worldwide box office, per The Numbers, and is $282 million away from making $1 billion, which the last three Jurᴀssic World movies have all reached. Right now, Rebirth‘s box office breaks down to $301 million domestically and 416 million internationally.

What This Means For Jurᴀssic World Rebirth

Can It Reach $1B?

The last three Jurᴀssic World movies and the original Jurᴀssic Park all pᴀssed $1 billion at the box office, meaning those expectations were placed upon the franchise’s quasi-reboot, Rebirth. In its fourth weekend in theaters, the movie made an additional $13 million domestically, bringing its total global gross to $718 million, ranking as the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2025 so far.

Only two movies have made $1 billion at the box office in 2025 – Ne Zha 2 and Lilo & Sтιтch.

Rebirth is $282 million away from $1 billion, which makes the box office milestone doable, but also an uphill battle. While still possible, Rebirth making $1 billion is looking more and more unlikely considering its fourth-weekend drop of 45.2%. For the past week, it’s only been averaging about $3 million daily. In all likelihood, Rebirth might cap at around $800-850 million.

Our Take On Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s Box Office

It’s Still A Mᴀssive Success

Even if Rebirth doesn’t reach $1 billion, it’s still been a mᴀssive success at the box office. This is largely due to its more modest $180 million budget, which is much lower than Dominion‘s $265 million and less than half of Fallen Kingdom‘s mᴀssive $432 million budget, the second-most expensive movie ever made behind The Force Awakens.

Even if Jurᴀssic World Rebirth doesn’t hit the billion-dollar benchmark, it’s still a box office success.

This means that Rebirth only needed to make about $450 million to become profitable, much lower than what past Jurᴀssic World movies needed to make, with Fallen Kingdom needing to make just over $1 billion to become profitable. Even if Jurᴀssic World Rebirth doesn’t hit the billion-dollar benchmark, it’s still a box office success.
