Coyote Vs Acme Release Date Finally Confirmed After Being Saved From Cancellation

At San Diego Comic-Con, the release date for Coyote vs. Acme has finally been confirmed. The movie is a live-action and CGI hybrid featuring the Looney Tunes character, Wile E. Coyote. The story is set in the fictional ACME warehouse, which manufactures things used by the Looney Tunes characters.

The film is directed by Dave Green and features a script and story by James Gunn, Jeremy Slater, and Samy Burch. The cast includes John Cena, Lana Condor, Will Forte, and P.J. Byrne. Coyote vs. Acme endured a lengthy post-production process and was almost canceled.

Speaking at an SDCC panel attended by ScreenRant, Forte confirmed the release date for Coyote vs. Acme. The film is set to release in theaters on August 28, 2026.

What This Means For Coyote vs. Acme

The Movie Was Saved From Cancellation This Year

This release update marks a major milestone for Coyote vs. Acme. This film has been in development for years at this point, as it was announced back in 2018. After being put on hold by COVID, the film was sH๏τ in the spring of 2022.

Even though filming was completed, the road ahead was tough for the Looney Tunes movies. Seeking tax write-offs, Warner Bros. shelved the project in November 2023. This left the movie without a real distribution plan, even though it would have been ready to hit theaters.

Despite canceling it for themselves, Warner Bros. did allow the filmmakers to shop for other distributors. Just months ago this year, it was announced that Ketchup Entertainment had taken Coyote vs. Acme under its wing, and it would finally get released.

At the time, it was announced that it would come out sometime in 2026. Now, it is confirmed that it will have an end-of-summer release next year. This serves as additional confirmation that, even after cancellation, the film will finally be seen by audiences.

Our Take On The Coyote Vs. Acme Release Date

Ketchup Can Bring In A Better Box Office This Time

Wile E. Coyote has an idea in Looney Tunes

The whole situation with Coyote vs Acme has been a fascinating story, and the release date is just a positive step from what was a nightmare scenario. This movie has a lot of support and enthusiasm behind it, but it will need to do well at the box office to make its savings worth it.

Thankfully, Ketchup will have over a year to figure out a marketing strategy for the film. Their first Looney Tunes effort was solid with The Day the Earth Blew Up, but unfortunately, it was not a huge box office hit. The distributor can change this trend with Coyote vs. Acme, hopefully bringing the film to success.
