The Predator Series’ Most Famous Characters Finally Return In New Killer of Killers Cut

It’s been announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Predator: Killer of Killers is getting a new cut, and it’s bringing back the franchise’s most iconic characters. Co-directed by Dan Trachtenberg and Joshua Wᴀssung, the first animated installment in the Predator franchise hit Hulu on June 6.

The film takes something of an anthology approach, following various warriors across history taking on a Yautja in combat, including a Samurai and a fighter pilot. ScreenRant‘s own Predator: Killer of Killer review notwithstanding, the response to the original cut of the movie was overwhelmingly positive.

Now, there’s confirmed to be a new cut coming, as it’s confirmed SDCC 2025’s Predator: Badlands panel, where ScreenRant is in attendance, that a new version of Predator: Killer of Killers is releasing on Hulu today at 7:00pm PST. The new cut is confirmed to feature the same general ending as the original but with an additional scene at the end.

This extended ending features Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch from the original Predator (1987) and Danny Glover’s Lieutenant Mike Harrigan from Predator 2 (1990) showing up in cryo-tubes alongside other defeated hunters. Trachtenberg reveals that Schwarzenegger himself approved the Dutch cameo over a breakfast the two of them shared, before then teasing:

“We can continue to cook with that character.”

What This Means For Predator: Killer Of Killers

The Franchise Is Poised For Continued Success

On Rotten Tomatoes, Killer of Killers enjoys a stunning 95% score from critics, making it the highest-rated Predator movie ever. The Popcornmeter score is also glowing at 88%, indicating widespread audience enthusiasm.

Clearly, this animated take on the Yautja resonated, and this new cut is unlikely to drastically change that. From Trachtenberg’s comments, the additional material is more of a bonus for viewers rather than something that actually changes the narrative or arcs of any Killer of Killers characters.

It’s unclear whether this new cut was always something that was going to happen or if the positive response helped to get it over the finish line, but it evidently will be the perfect excuse for many to revisit the movie. In addition to being a critical success, Killer of Killers was also a viewership hit for Hulu, and the new cut is likely to further bolster these numbers.

This new development for Killer of Killers could help to keep enthusiasm high for the next big franchise project, the upcoming Predator: Badlands, which Trachtenberg also directs. With Prey (2022) and now Killer of Killers, Trachtenberg has proven himself a worthy steward of the Predator franchise.

Our Take On Killer Of Killers’ Extended Ending

The Cameos Are A Fun Surprise

As Marvel has perfected over the years, cameos don’t have to be anything more than just that. Sometimes, it’s exciting for audiences to see a figure from elsewhere in a franchise show up for a quick appearance.

Dutch is the character that kick-started the Predator universe, and his brief inclusion at the end of the animated movie could be a fun moment for those well-versed in franchise history. Predator 2 was ultimately not as well-received, but Mike Harrigan, too, could prove to be a welcome addition.

The success of Predator: Killer of Killers suggests that the franchise could live on beyond the realm of live-action. It doesn’t sound like there are any plans for more animated Predator movies just yet, but the new cut is a sign that this medium could get continued attention moving forward.
