Knowing that he could potentially die at any time, Zsa-Zsa names his daughter, Liesl, as his sole heir. However, Liesl, who is becoming a nun, disagrees with her father’s business practices and view of the world.

In the film, Liesl’s convictions prove difficult for Zsa-Zsa to navigate, especially since he wants to partake in many unethical business practices to complete a mᴀssive infrastructure project in the fictional nation of Phoenicia. Most notably, Zsa-Zsa wants to use slaves to save money on construction costs.

Because of their differing beliefs, Zsa-Zsa and Liesl constantly ʙuтт heads. In the movie, del Toro and Threapleton both deliver amazing performances, and they are also joined by an incredible supporting cast. In addition to the aforementioned Cera, the cast of The Phoenician Scheme includes notable names like Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
