Black Panther 3 has a lot of potential for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and after the latest update, I feel reᴀssured that it won’t be rushed. It’s no secret that the MCU has been struggling for some time now. After the tremendous success of the Infinity Saga, the Multiverse Saga has seen the MCUs popularity wane.
However, there have still been a handful of projects that have resonated with audiences and proved to be extremely popular with fans. And among them, is the Black Panther series of movies. After the incredible success of the first movie, Chadwick Boseman tragically pᴀssed away, but the MCU has honored his legacy and taken the story of Wakanda further.
Now, the MCU is set to return to that hidden world, and make it a larger focus in the future of the MCU beyond the Multiverse Saga, and that requires careful consideration and planning for when the next movie should be released. Thankfully, it appears that Marvel Studios is taking this responsibility seriously.
Black Panther 3 Is One Of The MCU’s Most Mysterious & Anticipated Movies At The Same Time
Black Panther 3 Has A Lot To Offer The MCU
After the Infinity Saga ended, there are only a handful of staple characters that stand to lead the MCU. And Black Panther stands out as one of the more complex series in this regard. With Boseman’s T’Challa, it seemed as though the king of Wakanda would be integral to the next phase of the MCU. But now that the mantle has pᴀssed on to Shuri, it’s hard to predict what will happen next.
However, at the end of Black Panther: Wakanada Forever, it seems as though T’Challa’s legacy will also continue through his son. In addition, M’Baku has taken the throne in Wakanda, and warriors like Okoye are forging their own stories. Now, these stories have grown far beyond one man, to encapsulate an entire nation.
With that, this corner of the MCU has become one of the most fascinating, and as the Multiverse Saga rapidly approaches its end, the future of Wakanda and its people is a mystery that needs to be explored. Thankfully, Black Panther 3 is in the pipeline, and it appears that the questions will eventually get an answer, but Marvel is being careful in its approach to telling this story.
Black Panther 3’s Timeline Update Bodes Well For The MCU Movie & Its Release
Black Panther 3 Isn’t Being Rushed Through Production
Now, while Kevin Feige has been the architect of the MCU for nearly two decades, it seems as though a few trusted writers and directors are being given more responsibility over other corners of the MCU. For instance, Ryan Coogler has been instrumental in bringing Wakanda to the MCU, and also characters like Ironheart.
And when pressed about a timeline or a release date for Black Panther 3, Feige revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he and Coogler have a timeline in place. This is incredibly promising, because while it doesn’t reveal a precise date, it’s evident that plans are being made for the next entry in the Black Panther story.
Black Panther and Wakanda appear to continue to be an integral part of that larger story.
Going forward, Marvel Studios have an incredible opportunity to reset and refresh things as the Multiverse Saga wraps up. With a potential reboot for the wider world, things are set to look very different after Avengers: Secret Wars, but despite big changes on the horizon, Black Panther and Wakanda appear to continue to be an integral part of that larger story.
Where & When Black Panther 3 Would Be Best Releasing In The MCU Timeline
Black Panther 3 Will Have A Future In The MCU
After The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday are due to both come out in 2026. Following that, Avengers: Secret Wars will arrive in theaters in 2027. In addition to that, there are projects like Armor Wars, Blade, Shang-Chi 2, and an X-Men movie all in the works, but it seems highly unlikely that any of these will be released before 2028.
However, Eyes of Wakanda, an animated series on Disney+ is set to take the story of Wakanda further in August 2025. So, while Black Panther 3 is still in early stages of development, Wakanda has not been forgotten. But, in order to make the biggest splash in the MCU, it would make sense to place Black Panther 3 some time after Avengers: Secret Wars.
This will help to establish how Wakanda fits into the world after the mᴀssive shakeup of Secret Wars. After all, the final entry in the Multiverse Saga is set to create a soft reboot for the MCU, and the following movies will have to lay the foundation for what this new world looks like. With Wakanda joining teams like The Fantastic Four and the X-Men, there is a lot of potential for new stories and crossovers in the future.
But, this requires the MCU to approach these stories more methodically, and create a more clear plan going forward. Rather than simply throwing heroes into the fray with little thought about how they work together, and what stories are being told. Instead, Kevin Feige and Ryan Coogler taking a step back, making a plan, and setting out a timeline for Black Panther 3 is the best outcome possible for this film.
