How to Train Your Dragon is only $30 million away from breaking the franchise’s biggest record. A live-action remake of the 2010 animated movie, the new 2025 film follows the friendship between Hiccup, a resourceful young Viking, and Toothless, a rare Night Fury dragon, which becomes the crucial link in shaping a united future for their two worlds on the island of Berk.

The live-action How to Train Your Dragon cast includes Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Frost. The only returning cast member is Gerard Butler, reprising his role from the animated films as Stoick the Vast, Berk’s chieftain and Hiccup’s father.

How to Train Your Dragon reviews have been mostly positive, resulting in a 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it lovingly brought to life by original co-director Dean DeBlois.
