Our first glimpse of Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka season 2 was released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Eman Esfandi’s portrayal of Ezra Bridger was a highlight of Ahsoka season 1, as he was finally reunited with fellow Ghost Crew member Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano, following his heroic sacrifice to free his homeworld from the Empire’s clutches in Star Wars Rebels.
Ezra returned to the main galaxy in Ahsoka season 1, and it seems he’s now sporting a new look. Lucasfilm has shared a first image of Ezra from Ahsoka season 2 at San Diego Comic-Con, where ScreenRant is in attendance.
Esfandi can be seen wearing a dark blue jacket. He’s shaved his beard, and his hair is a little tamer than it was in Ahsoka season 1. Overall, Ezra looks happy, healthy, and a little mischievous, reminiscent of his appearance in Star Wars Rebels seasons 1 and 2.
One thing is being noticed by viewers, though; the contact lenses in Esfandi’s eyes have been toned down, meaning they’re a little less dazzling blue than in Ahsoka season 1. Esfandi himself has acknowledged this on social media, in his usual entertaining manner.

What These Ezra Bridger Images Mean For Ahsoka Season 2
It appears Ezra is on a ship, one likely in the hands of the New Republic. At the end of Ahsoka season 1, he was reunited with General Hera Syndulla, his former Ghost Crew captain and one of the leaders of the Rebellion. Ezra may now officially be stationed under her command again, although the ship in the image doesn’t look like the interior of the Ghost.
It’s also possible he’s on this ship to train Hera’s Force-sensitive son, Jacen Syndulla. Jacen is the son of Ezra’s former Jedi Master, Kanan Jarrus, and as Ahsoka season 1 proved, Jacen needs a tutor. Who better to teach him than Ezra?
There’s also a chance Ezra is scouring the galaxy alongside Garazeb Orrelios, another Ghost Crew family member and current ranger of the New Republic. After all, Ahsoka season 2 is tied to the upcoming cinematic adventures of The Mandalorian and Grogu, in which we know Garazeb Orrelios plays a role (this was teased in The Mandalorian season 3).
Our Take On Ezra Bridger’s New Look In Ahsoka Season 2
Clearly, given his new haircut and the shave, Ezra was determined to let go of his troubled time on Peridea. Ezra gave up everything for Lothal and his friends. He deserves a bit of happiness and peace. Sadly, though, with Grand Admiral Thrawn on the loose and Sabine and Ahsoka having taken Ezra’s place, it’s tough to say how long that peace will last.
Haircuts are a recurring theme in Star Wars Rebels. Between seasons 2 and 3, Ezra cropped his hair, reflecting his development as a Jedi and struggle with the dark side. In season 4, Kanan cut his hair before fully giving himself over to the Force, and Sabine Wren changed her haircut and color whenever she was about to embark on a new phase of her journey.
It’s exciting to see Ezra Bridger return in Ahsoka season 2 – he outsmarted Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Empire once before; surely, he can do it again.
Of course, it remains to be seen how much of a role Ezra will play in Ahsoka season 2. The show is still called Ahsoka, after all, so it will presumably spend a significant chunk of time on Peridea. It also shouldn’t solely focus on finding Ahsoka and Sabine. That would make the new season much too similar to season 1.
Regardless, it’s exciting to see Ezra Bridger return in Ahsoka season 2 – he outsmarted Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Empire once before; surely, he can do it again.
