Meryl Streep is back in action as Miranda Priestly in new Devil Wears Prada 2 set pH๏τos. Though Streep is a legendary actor with a number of screen credits to her name, her performance as ice queen magazine editor Miranda Priestly in the original 2006 movie remains one of her most beloved.
Production on The Devil Wears Prada 2 got underway recently, with original director David Frankel returning. Streep is joined by her fellow original stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. New cast members include Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, and Kenneth Branagh as Miranda’s husband.
Following glimpses of Hathaway on set and back in character, People has shared new Devil Wears Prada 2 set pH๏τos with Streep in costume as Miranda. Her hair has been styled similarly to the original film, and she’s shown wearing a carefully curated professional ensemble. The images came from New York City, where filming is now taking place. What This Means For The Devil Wears Prada 2
The Hype Is Real, And Miranda Hasn’t Changed At All
Hathaway already debuted the first look at her return as Andy Sachs, and though this isn’t an official peek, the glimpse of Streep back in character as Miranda Priestly increases the buzz surrounding The Devil Wears Prada 2 substantially. Since the original movie has a strong legacy and remains a favorite for many, there are high expectations surrounding the sequel.
Still, though, the way The Devil Wears Prada 2 is being treated so far only heightens its significance. In a way, the hype already feels reminiscent of the way superhero sequels are discussed. Pictures are circulating of the cast in costume, 20th Century Studios released a big announcement when filming began, and the movie has been given a prime May 2026 premiere.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will release on May 1, 2026. The first weekend in May has historically been a favorite for Marvel Studios, and Avengers: Doomsday was, at one time, scheduled for the May 1 slot until it moved to December 2026.
As for the image itself, Streep’s Miranda hardly looks like she’s changed at all. She’s still as fashionable as ever, and remains carefully put-together. It’s been reported that the sequel will follow Miranda as she navigates a changing magazine industry, so perhaps the decision to keep her style similar to before represents her old-fashioned mentality when it comes to business.
Our Take On The Devil Wears Prada 2 Set PH๏τos
Miranda Priestly Is Really Back, And It’s Exhilarating
It was thrilling to see Hathaway back on set, but it’s the Streep pH๏τos that really made me excited as a longtime Devil Wears Prada fan. Streep’s appearance as Miranda is iconic, and seeing her with the familiar hairstyle really cements the fact that we’re going to revisit these beloved characters once again.
Now that it’s been well over a decade since we last saw Miranda, Andy, and everyone else, it’ll be especially intriguing to learn where everyone ended up and how they’ve changed. Though we won’t get any real footage for some time, these first looks at The Devil Wears Prada 2 go a long way in drumming up interest; hopefully we’ll see Blunt and Tucci next.
