Pierce Brosnan’s Surprising Transformation Revealed In First Trailer Of Boxing Biopic

Pierce Brosnan is best known for his stint as James Bond, playing the iconic secret agent in four films from 1995 to 2002 – GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. Though he’s best known for Bond, Brosnan has played several other roles in his nearly 50-year career.

The Irish actor first gained fame through the TV series Remington Steele (1982–1987). After the show ended, he appeared in the popular comedy Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). After his breakthrough as Bond, he had starring roles in high-profile films such as the disaster thriller Dante’s Peak (1997) and the stylish remake of The Thomas Crown Affair (1999).

Post-Bond, Brosnan remained active in film, taking on diverse roles in hits like Mamma Mia! (2008) and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). He later portrayed Doctor Fate in Black Adam (2022). Beyond blockbuster films, Brosnan earned critical praise for his earlier work in Nancy Astor (1982) and The Matador (2005), earning Golden Globe nominations for both.

Pierce Brosnan’s Surprising Transformation Revealed In First Trailer For Giant

He Plays Irish Boxing Trainer Brendan Ingle

Pierce Brosnan’s surprising transformation has been revealed in the first trailer for Giant. Written and directed by Rowan Athale, the upcoming biopic is based on the remarkable real-life story of legendary British-Yemeni boxing champion Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed, who fought between 1992 and 2002, and held several world featherweight тιтles from 1995 to 2000.

The boxing biopic stars Amir El-Masry as Prince Naseem Hamed and Pierce Brosnan as his trainer, Brendan Ingle, alongside a cast that includes Katherine Dow Blyton, Olivia Barrowclough, Elika Ashoori, Austin Haynes, Rocco Haynes, Oliver Joseph Brooke, Arian Nik, Big Jake, Kelvin Ade, Mehdi Mangoli, Ali Saleh, and Ghaith Saleh.

Now, True Brit Entertainment has released the first official trailer for Giant, tracing Naseem Hamed’s remarkable rise from modest roots in Sheffield to his triumph as a world champion and global sports icon of the 1990s. The trailer focuses on the unexpected yet heartfelt bond between Naz and his Irish boxing coach, Brendan Ingle, highlighting his pivotal influence on his journey. Watch the trailer below:

Our Take On The Giant Trailer

Is This Pierce Brosnan’s Best Performance In Years?

Based on the trailer for Giant, boxing trainer Brendan Ingle might be Pierce Brosnan’s best performance in years, and a role that could see him receive renewed critical attention. Boxing trainers have long been reliable vehicles for Oscar nominations, from Burgess Meredith’s Micky in Rocky (1976) to Christian Bale’s Oscar-winning performance as Dicky Eklund in The Fighter (2010).

Though Brosnan’s performance might not be enough for him to receive his first Oscar nomination of his career, it’s nice to see that he still has a surprising transformation left in him.

With Sylvester Stallone acting as an executive producer on Giant, the comparisons to Rocky should be that much stronger. Though Brosnan’s performance might not be enough for him to receive his first Oscar nomination of his career, it’s nice to see that he still has a surprising transformation left in him.

Giant releases in theaters soon.
