Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is only the fourth movie in 2025 to surpᴀss a major global box office milestone. The Gareth Edwards-directed film had a strong box office debut after grossing $318 million worldwide during its five-day opening weekend period.
In the weeks since its impressive start, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is still a box office hit, and it only took days for it to become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2025.
According to The Numbers, Rebirth has now made more than $650 million globally, with its total as of July 22 sitting at $652.4 million. It is only the fourth movie to reach this milestone in 2025, with the three others being A Minecraft Movie, the live-action Lilo & Sтιтch, and Ne Zha 2.
What This Means For Jurᴀssic World Rebirth
The Franchise Continues To Be Box Office Gold
Rebirth‘s latest box office milestone further cements it as one of 2025’s best box office performances so far. With a reported budget of $180 million, Rebirth has far surpᴀssed the breakeven point and continues to make an increasingly impressive profit, now with $279.3 million domestically and $373.1 million internationally.
Jurᴀssic World Rebirth‘s reviews and Tomatometer score being negative is a reminder that strong critical reception does not always equate to high box office numbers. The latest installment in the Jurᴀssic Park franchise is resonating with general audiences in a way that has not happened since the release of the first Jurᴀssic World movie a decade ago.
While a potential Jurᴀssic World 5 has not been officially announced, a sequel is all but guaranteed given Rebirth‘s box office performance. As for whether it can catch the three other movies that have grossed more than $650 million worldwide, that will be a more difficult feat.
Ne Zha 2 has already made more than $2 billion and is now releasing as an A24 movie in the U.S. Lilo & Sтιтch has grossed more than $1 billion, and A Minecraft Movie has earned $955 million.
Our Take On Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s Latest Box Office Milestone
Rebirth’s Box Office Is Impressive, Even If It Doesn’t Make $1 Billion
Even though I wasn’t a fan of Rebirth, I am still impressed by its box-office dominance. The Jurᴀssic Park franchise has already proven more than once that its sequels can rule the box office even when they are not well-received by critics, and Rebirth is no exception.
Unlike all the previous Jurᴀssic World movies, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth may not reach $1 billion globally by the end of its theatrical run, but it is still an undeniable box office success, and should continue to perform well as the summer continues.
