Dawson’s Creek is a coming-of-age teen drama that follows a тιԍнт-knit group of friends growing up in the fictional town of Capeside, Mᴀssachusetts. The series begins during their high school years and follows them into college. Created by Scream writer Kevin Williamson, it debuted in 1998 on The WB and ran for six seasons until 2003.
Alongside Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 7th Heaven, Dawson’s Creek became one of The WB’s defining shows that launched its young cast to global fame. The show has generally been recognized as a modern classic, earning spots on various “best of” lists over the years.
Dawson’s Creek is also credited with sparking the wave of teen dramas that gained popularity throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. Now, more than two decades after the series ended, two of its stars are reuniting for an exciting new project.
2 Dawson’s Creek Stars Reunite For A Romantic Movie Trilogy
One Of Them Will Also Write & Direct
Two Dawson’s Creek stars are reuniting for a romantic movie trilogy. The show starred James Van Der Beek as aspiring filmmaker Dawson Leery, with Katie Holmes as his best friend and love interest, Joey Potter. Joshua Jackson plays their witty friend Pacey Witter, while Michelle Williams portrays Jen Lindley, a newcomer from New York City who shakes up their small-town world.
Now, over two decades after the series ended, Dawson’s Creek stars Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson are reuniting for the Happy Hours film trilogy. Holmes will also write and direct the sweeping trilogy, which will also star Mary Louise Parker, Constance Wu, Joe Tippett, John McGinty, Donald Webber Jr., Nathan Darrow, Johnna Dias-Watson, and Jack Martin.
Happy Hours will tell the story of “two people (Jackson and Holmes) navigating their relationship within the challenges of careers and family responsibilities and the pursuit of love despite life’s inevitable obstacles.” It’s described as a “character-driven dramedy that explores the emotional journey of young loves who reconnect as adults, with the connective thread of shared joys, loss, and hope.”
The trilogy is set to kick off with the first film beginning production this summer, followed closely by the second and third installments.
Our Take On The Happy Hours Movie Trilogy
Katie Holmes & Joshua Jackson Reunite To Tell Another Love Story
Given how Dawson‘s Creek ended, with Joey choosing Pacey and the two rekindling their romance after time apart, it feels fitting that Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson are reuniting for a romantic trilogy. Just as Joey and Pacey found their way back to each other in New York, so too are Holmes and Jackson reuniting to tell another love story in the Happy Hours trilogy.
