The Mandalorian & Grogu can redeem one of the most controversial Mandalorian episodes ever. Set to release in 2026, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be set after the events of The Mandalorian season 3, as Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin works closely with the New Republic along with his adopted son Grogu. However, there are hopes that the Star Wars movie will also continue the story of Mandalore.
The Mandalorian season 3 ended with the liberation of Mandalore from Imperial Remnant forces. However, there’s still plenty of story to be had as Bo-Katan Kryze rules her people once more as Mandalore is rebuilt to its former glory. With that in mind, one of The Mandalorian’s worst episodes could play a key factor in the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie.
Guns For Hire Is The Mandalorian’s Lowest-Rated Episode
There Are Some Pretty Good Reasons Why
тιтled “Guns for Hire”, The Mandalorian season 3, episode 6 is one of the show’s worst-rated episodes. There are a few key reasons, a primary one being a distracting overuse of cameos with the inclusions of Lizzo, Jack Black, and Christopher Lloyd. Likewise, the episode’s plot was largely self-contained and unnecessarily prolonged as Bo-Katan and Din Djarin were enlisted to help Plazir-15 with their malfunctioning battle droid problem.

The bulk of the episode is a side quest, taking time away from the main plot. Even when the episode gets back on track with Bo-Katan and Din Djarin attempting to enlist Kryze’s old forces, many felt dissatisfied with Djarin giving the Darksaber to Bo-Katan, citing her claim to the legendary saber on a technicality, having defeated the foe that had defeated him.
Tone was also a problem for “Guns for Hire”. Compared to the usual Mandalorian fare, this episode in particular felt very out of place compared to most. Rather than feeling like a sci-fi Western, “Guns for Hire” was way more cartoonish and jokey. Likewise, the bottle-like nature of the episode really killed the tension that had been building with the gathering Mandalorian forces and their hopes to reclaim Mandalore.
Plazir-15 Promised To Recognize Mandalore As A Sovereign System
Thanks To Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze
That being said, there is one element of “Guns for Hire” that might have some intriguing substance in the future. In exchange for Bo-Katan and Din Djarin’s help, the Duchess of Plazir-15 and Captain Bombardier promised that they would peтιтion the New Republic to recognize Mandalore as a sovereign system once the planet was liberated by Imperial forces.
As seen in the finale of The Mandalorian season 3, Mandalore was indeed liberated with Moff Gideon’s defeat. Reclaimed by a united force of Mandalorians, Bo-Katan is now in a prime position to lead her people once more on their homeworld that for years was believed to have been lost, poisoned, and cursed.
Interestingly, Din Djarin and Grogu chose not to stay on Mandalore. Instead, they chose to live on a homestead on Nevarro, taking the piece of land that was gifted to them by Magistrate Karga. However, that doesn’t mean that Din Djarin wouldn’t come to Bo-Katan and his people’s aid when called, and vice versa. As such, perhaps Plazir-15’s promise will be invoked in the upcoming Star Wars movie.
Plazir-15 May Play An Important Role In The Mandalorian & Grogu
Aiding Mandalore’s Return As A Galactic Power?
The full plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu remains to be seen. What we do know is that Din Djarin and Grogu will be contracted with the New Republic, helping track down Imperial warlords as teased at the end of The Mandalorian season 3.
However, we don’t yet know what the bigger stakes and plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu will be. That said, there are hopes that Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze might be involved as she works to restore her recently reclaimed homeworld.
With that in mind, it might be interesting to see Plazir-15 making good on their promise, helping to get Mandalore recognized by the New Republic as a sovereign system once more. It would certainly go a long way in terms of redeeming the episode. While it wouldn’t change its many problems, at least it would become a key piece of set-up for the upcoming Star Wars movie.
It will be very interesting to see what The Mandalorian & Grogu has in store for audiences. After all, it is going to be the very first Star Wars movie on the big screen since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. While it’s also unknown if The Mandalorian will receive a fourth season after the movie’s release, it could be another potential project where Plazir-15 could be involved/redeemed.
