The Legend Of Zelda Movie Update Teases Which Video Game Nintendo Is Adapting For Live-Action

The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has already announced who will be playing its Link and Zelda, and while this is exciting, it also teases what game the upcoming film will be adapting. There are all kinds of The Legend of Zelda stories to choose from, and while the story hasn’t been revealed yet, the casting helps to narrow the options down.

The Legend of Zelda cast will feature Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, with the actor having previously appeared in projects like The Haunting of Bly Manor and 2022’s Pinocchio remake. Meanwhile, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason, who has previously appeared in projects like Renegade Nell and The Radleys.

These are the only two The Legend of Zelda casting announcements that have been made so far, and there are sure to be a lot more in the future. While details on the film are still slim, these casting announcements alone can tell us a lot about the story and tone of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie.

Each The Legend of Zelda game has a unique story, meaning that there are all kinds of options for the upcoming live-action movie to choose from. However, Link’s age changes throughout The Legend of Zelda games, as the different incarnations of the character aren’t exactly the same. So, based on the actor’s age, the story possibilities can be narrowed down.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is 16 years old as of the writing of this article, meaning that he could be 17 by the time the film is in production. This age is perfect for Link, as the character is only in his late teens in a few of the games.

Link is around this age range in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Link’s Awakening, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword, meaning that any of these four games could be adapted. Toon Link’s age is also debated, and while the character seems younger, it is possible that The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglᴀss, or Spirit Tracks could fit this actor’s age.

Adult Link is around this age in Ocarina of Time, meaning that if a Young Link is cast, the film could adapt this iconic Zelda story. While Link is technically over a hundred years old in the Breath of the Wild series, his stasis means that Ainsworth could play this version of Link as well.

So, there are obviously still a lot of possibilities as to what The Legend of Zelda movie could adapt. However, the options have been narrowed down significantly, and this will continue as more information surrounding The Legend of Zelda releases.
