A24’s New Genre-Blending Western Movie Surprisingly Maintains Pedro Pascal’s RT Streak Despite Divisive Reviews

While his latest movie is struggling, Pedro Pascal‘s impressive Rotten Tomatoes streak remains unbroken. While he has been active in Hollywood since 1995, the past decade has seen him leap into prominence. After years of taking relatively minor positions, his breakout came when he starred in Game of Thrones as the Dornish lord Oberyn Martell, and he never looked back.

Pascal has recently starred in increasingly prominent roles. He headlined Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), The Wild Robot (2024), Gladiator II (2024), and he is poised to lead the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) and The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026). As the rest of Hollywood struggled, Pascal has dominated the industry.

On the small screen, Pascal appeared as Javier Peña in Narcos, Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and Joel Miller in The Last of Us. These roles helped to catapult the actor into the spotlight, and they have generally been positively received. Since 2022, he has starred in critically renowned hits.

Pascal’s Latest Movie Continues His Streak

Eddington May Disappoint, But Pascal Doesn’t

Pascal’s latest appearance came in A24’s Eddington, a genre-bending Western that sees a harsh mayoral campaign between Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix) and Pascal’s Ted Garcia during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Ari Aster’s latest controversial movie, Eddington has proven to be immensely divisive, as neither critics nor audiences know what to take away from it.

The lukewarm response is evident on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, where the movie has earned a 67% Tomatometer score and a 64% Popcornmeter score at the time of writing. Some critics claim that it is one of the best movies of the year, while others argue that it critiques real-world politics without actually taking a stand in any direction.

Fortunately, the divisiveness has not hindered Pescal’s legacy as an actor. The Popcornmeter continues a genuinely impressive streak that has seen the star impress the general audience with every release. Pescal has not had a single Rotten audience score since Drive Away Dolls.

Pescal has developed an eye for detecting quality scripts, and that can be seen from his Tomatometer streak alone. Now, all eyes should be on The Fantastic Four: First Steps to see if audiences will enjoy the latest iteration of Marvel’s First Family. If so, Pescal will have achieved a streak that few other actors can boast about.

Eddington may be struggling with critics, but it has not hindered Pescal’s career in any way. He continues to impress and is even sitting on a newly developing streak, as he has seen five straight positive Popcornmeter scores. With such remarkable results, the star should certainly be proud of his recent releases.
