The Superman press tour was so exhaustive that one of the DCU’s movie’s main stars felt compelled to call a witch in preparation. Short of acting out of pure supersтιтion, however, it turns out that they had a pretty well-justified reason to do so based on past experiences.
Superman has landed with a flourish among critics and audiences alike, and continues to soar at the box office as it enters its second weekend in theaters. Superman‘s popularity is almost self-explanatory, but it’s fair to say that the thorough global press tour helped set it on a course to becoming one of the most successful DC movies.
This extensive press tour worried Lois Lane actress Rachel Brosnahan, who revealed in an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she suffered from a “travel curse” for which she had to call a witch. Brosnahan ᴀsserted that this curse traditionally manifested in ways that made traveling “never not as stressful as humanly possible.”
Thankfully, upon resorting to the unorthodox measure, Brosnahan revealed that her press tour travels went off without a hitch, confessing that she now believes in witches and curses. The full interview can be viewed below:
What Rachel Brosnahan’s Comments Mean For Superman
The Fact That Rachel Borsnahan Could Travel Was Useful
Whether Brosnahan’s consultation with a “travel witch” was solely responsible for the success of the press tour or not, it’s safe to say that Brosnahan’s media prominence over the past several weeks alongside her co-stars has been a boon to Superman. The DCU’s inaugural movie opened to $217 million globally, according to The Numbers.
The novel approach to her issue also speaks to Brosnahan’s dedication to the role. Before Superman‘s Lois Lane, Brosnahan is perhaps best known for portraying the тιтular character in the critically acclaimed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, though it’s fair to say that Superman is her biggest role yet – a point that Jimmy Fallon touched on in their interview.
Although Superman 2 is yet to be announced, the character’s importance to Superman suggests that she could also star in an ensemble movie like the DCU’s Justice League.
Now, it is likely that Brosnahan will continue on many more media circuits as Lois Lane undoubtedly becomes a mainstay of the entire franchise and appears in future DCU installments. Although Superman 2 is yet to be announced, the character’s importance to Superman suggests that she could also star in an ensemble movie like the DCU’s Justice League.
Our Take On Rachel Brosnahan’s Superman Comments
Rachel Brosnahan’s Brush With The Occult Is On-Brand
It is apt that Brosnahan became more amenable to the concept of curses and witches before starring in the DCU, which officially launched with Creature Commandos in December and fronted a mystical cohort of humanoids and the powerful sorceress, Circe. Even Superman, with its inclusion of Hawkgirl, Kaiju’s and pocket universes, is one of the most outlandish Superman interpretations yet.
Superman established that Metahumans, which presumably includes magic-wielders, have been a part of the DCU’s universe for three centuries.
Whatever the case, I’m looking forward to seeing what Rachel Brosnahan has to offer the DCU with her newfound freedom. As Superman continues its success at the worldwide box office, it may be that we can all thank Brosnahan’s consultation for her prominence in the franchise from now on.
