Only a few days after its release, Superman has already proven just how successful it was in launching the DC Universe. Superman is only the first installment in the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, with plenty more on the way. Just next month, the story of Peacemaker season 2 will be released to continue the new franchise’s H๏τ streak.
Peacemaker has already been confirmed to tie to Superman via an Easter egg in the latter, as have several other upcoming DC projects. One such project is 2026’s Supergirl story, recently reтιтled from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In only a few days since its release, Superman has proven how successful it has been as the beginning of the DCU and the first of these many projects.
Supergirl’s New Poster Proves Just How Excited Audiences Are For The Future Of The DCU
The Hype For The DCU Is Real
The proof of Superman‘s success comes in the form of the first poster for Supergirl. The poster was posted on James Gunn’s Twitter/X account, highlighting Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, complete with an altered version of Superman‘s tag line. Rather than “Look Up,” Supergirl is warning people to “Look Out.”

As of the time of writing, just over 24 hours after Gunn shared the poster, it is sitting at 395,000 likes on X. When compared to the first Superman poster, it becomes clear just how much the 2025 film got audiences excited for the future of the DCU. Superman‘s first poster, posted in December 2024, has only 166,000 likes.
Supergirl has doubled this, and then some, in only a day, despite Superman‘s poster being online for over half a year. Above all else, this proves that Superman rekindled hope for DC in film.
Superman’s True Success Was Reigniting DC
Not Box Office Or Review Scores
Since Superman was released, a lot of focus has been placed on the movie’s obvious models of success. Be it the box office returns of the film or Superman‘s strong reviews, these aspects have been used by many to dictate whether the first installment in the DCU was a success or not.
Although the film is succeeding at the box office and has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, the reaction to the Supergirl poster is the true barometer of Superman‘s success. The two are inherently linked after all, with Supergirl appearing as a cameo in Superman. Naturally, this has sparked excitement.
Gunn has then wisely capitalized on this excitement and released a poster for Supergirl, despite the film being just under a year out. Superman‘s ability to win over audiences, critics, and any cynics of the DCU has shone through, proving that the film has succeeded in the most important way by reigniting the general excitement people once had for DC characters.
