Qui-Gon Jinn actor, Liam Neeson, has skillfully dodged some Star Wars questions, specifically when quizzed about Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2. Star Wars’ TV shows are expected to continue in the future, despite a resurgence in theaters. Upcoming Star Wars movies are a priority, but Disney+ will not be forgotten, with Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 having been long-rumored.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant‘s own Liam Crowley, Liam Neeson was asked about these rumors. Neeson was asked if he agrees with new Superman actor David Corenswet that Qui-Gon should have been the one to train Anakin. The veteran actor gave a simple answer:
“I’d love to.”
Neeson’s comments made it clear this was in specific reference to working with Jake Lloyd.
The Qui-Gon Jinn actor was then asked about rumors of Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2, and whether we’ll see more of the Jedi Master in future. Neeson skillfully dodged any comments about his commitment to Star Wars, however, giving an amusing answer:
“Oh has it? There’s so many spinoffs. So I lost track.”
Qui-Gon’s Force Ghost Is A MUST For Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2
After Season 1’s Teases
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Neeson was playing coy or whether he genuinely lost track of the many Star Wars spin-offs. Regardless, if Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2’s story does indeed happen, Neeson must return as Qui-Gon Jinn’s Force Ghost.
Qui-Gon was the first Force Ghost after all, and appeared to his former Padawan in Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s ending. Given that Obi-Wan himself goes on to become a Force Ghost, it would make perfect sense for season 2 to focus on the duo, with Qui-Gon teaching his apprentice how to become one with the Force after death.
Our Take On Liam Neeson’s Comments
In terms of Neeson’s comments, there are two possibilities, as I have alluded to. The first is that he simply forgot about Star Wars‘ many spin-offs, as he said, thus losing track of whether Qui-Gon would come back in the future. The second, and certainly the more exciting, is that Neeson is aware of what is to come from Star Wars.
Neeson could have used his wealth of acting experience and dodged the question, so as not to spoil any potential stories that could be coming. The rumors of Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2’s announcement have been prevalent for a while now, so it would make sense for Neeson to avoid commenting on it if it truly was happening.
Whether this is just wishful thinking or not is up in the air right now, but no one can deny that Liam Neeson being back in Star Wars, in a major role, alongside Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi would be an incredibly exciting prospect.
