The Odyssey IMAX Tickets Are Officially On Sale One Year Early & They’re Already Selling Out

Tickets for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm are already on sale, and even though the movie is still a year away, they’re already selling out. The adaptation of Homer’s epic has been highly anticipated for many ever since it was revealed to be Nolan’s next film after Oppenheimer, especially after bringing aboard huge stars like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron.

Universal is releasing The Odyssey next year on July 17, 2026, but the studio and Nolan have already started drumming up excitement. This started recently with The Odyssey teaser trailer debuting in theaters. Then, reports surfaced a few days ago that tickets could go on sale, despite the unusual process of having select theaters and listings become available for purchase so far in advance.

IMAX has now confirmed that The Odyssey tickets are for sale, with the options limited to the earliest IMAX 70mm screenings available in several major cities. There are 16 theaters in the United States that have IMAX 70mm projection capabilities, as well as 10 additional locations internationally.

While the tickets have only been available for purchase for a few minutes, several showtimes are already completely sold out as audiences rush to secure the in-demand tickets. So, it is best to act quickly if you want to ensure you can see The Odyssey in this format as early as possible.

What This Means For The Odyssey

There’s A Clear Demand For Nolan’s Next Movie

There has never been much of a question that The Odyssey is a film that a lot of people would want to see. While the type of fantasy epic Nolan is putting his spin on is not as popular of a genre as it once was, he is the rare filmmaker who can drive interest in a film based on his involvement alone.

The early demand for The Odyssey tickets is a very encouraging sign for just how much audiences want to see what Nolan is creating here. Universal should have even more confidence in the film as a viable box office performer based on the ticket sales that are already happening a year before the film comes out.

While some cities and showtimes are already sold out, all hope is not lost if you live near those locations. This is only the first wave of The Odyssey IMAX 70mm showtimes, and if this format proves to be as popular for Nolan’s new movie as it was for Oppenheimer, then there will surely be additional showings announced down the line.

Our Take On The Odyssey’s Early Ticket Sales

The Excitement Is Building

Matt Damon as William Garin in The Great Wall

Tickets going on sale for a movie is not always a huge event, but in a case like The Odyssey, it’s hard not to be excited as this moment unfolds. There are celebrations already happening online as people secure their spots for one of these showtimes. Even a year out, these 70mm IMAX showtimes for The Odyssey have become something for fans to look forward to.

This is also only going to create more interest in seeing the movie in this format. Nolan isn’t even done filming it yet, and he’s still managed to create a mᴀssive awareness about these screenings and make them feel like huge cultural moments that cinephiles and casual moviegoers don’t want to miss.

As a result, The Odyssey already feels like the biggest movie event of 2026 and with a full year to go, too.
