Keanu Reeves’ Next Movie Will Break A 6-Year Streak After So Much John Wick

Keanu Reeves has most notably been working on the John Wick franchise for the past several years, and while the action series is great, the six-year streak is finally being broken by the actor’s next movie. Keanu Reeves is one of the most popular actors working today, and while he has been part of all kinds of iconic franchises, he is once again working on an original movie.

Keanu Reeves made his feature film debut in 1986’s Youngblood, but he had his breakthrough when he starred in 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. From there, he starred in major franchises from throughout the 1990s and 2000s, like Point Break, Speed, The Matrix, and Constantine.

Movies like 47 Ronin proved that Reeves’ career was in decline in the late 2000s and early 2010s. However, the actor had a major comeback starting with 2014’s John Wick, leading to the mᴀssive action franchise as well as roles in major movies like Toy Story 4, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, DC League of Super-Pets, and even video games like Cyberpunk 2077.

Good Fortune Will Finally Give Keanu Reeves A Non-Franchise Role – & There’s More To Come

After Years Of Sequels, Spinoffs, and Franchises

Keanu Reeves’ next movie is Good Fortune, and it offers a fantastic break for fans of Reeves’ non-franchise work. Directed by Aziz Ansari, Good Fortune follows a struggling guardian angel (Reeves) who is tasked with improving the life of Arj (Ansari) as he does meaningless tasks for his wealthy capitalist boss, Jeff (Seth Rogen).

Good Fortune is an original film, and it is Reeves’ first non-franchise role in six years. Reeves’ last non-franchise movie was 2019’s Always Be My Maybe, in which he played himself. Since then, Reeves has appeared in John Wick movies and franchises like Toy Story, SpongeBob SquarePants, DC Comics, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Matrix, and Bill & Ted.

While it is fun to see Reeves reprise some of his older roles as well as play characters like Shadow the Hedgehog, franchises aren’t why people initially loved the actor. The 1990s cemented Reeves as an action star, but he got his start in the comedy genre with Bill & Ted.

The first trailer for Good Fortune is out now, and it shows that Reeves is once again tapping into his comedic talents. After Good Fortune, the actor’s next projects are also comedies, with Keanu Reeves next set to star in Outcome and The Entertainment System Is Down.
