Where To Watch Eddington: Showtimes & Streaming Status

Eddington is the latest movie from acclaimed director Ari Aster, who first broke onto the scene in 2018 with his modern horror classic Hereditary. The filmmaker’s latest feature takes place in the fictional city of Eddington and depicts the ongoing conflicts between the town’s residents and their mayor during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eddington had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, where lead actors Pedro Pascal, Joaquin Phoenix, and Emma Stone were all in attendance. Eddington opened to divisive reviews, with many critics praising Aster’s ambitious storytelling and others left untouched by the film’s impersonal narrative.

The film is Aster’s fourth movie to date, following in the footsteps of 2019’s Midsommar and 2023’s Beau is Afraid, and his longtime fans will likely be planning on seeing it regardless of the middling reviews.

When Will Eddington Release On Streaming?

It Will Be Several Months Before Audiences Can Stream The Movie

Since Eddington is an A24 release, it’s safe to ᴀssume that the movie will eventually land on HBO Max when it makes its streaming debut. While there’s been no official confirmation from the studio about when this will be, data from last year’s A24 releases indicates a typical wait time of around 132 days between theatrical and streaming releases.

If this is the case, audiences can expect to find Eddington on HBO Max in late November. Of course, this date may be sooner or later depending on how well the movie performs at the box office, as A24 may opt to keep it in theaters for shorter or longer than planned. Eddington‘s A-List cast should offer the movie some hope for a strong commercial performance.

When Will Eddington Release On Digital?

A24 Typically Has A Quick VOD Turnaround

Similarly, no official confirmation has been given about Eddington‘s VOD release, but this can be ᴀssumed using the studio’s data from the previous year. A24’s theatrical releases averaged a wait time of 50 days before landing on digital services such as Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV+ in 2024. If that is the same this year, Eddington could be available to rent digitally as early as September.
