The Cast Of Brendan Fraser’s 1999 Action Movie Classic Reunites 26 Years Later In New PH๏τos

After almost three decades, Brendan Fraser has reunited with his former co-stars from his over $400 million blockbuster hit. As a recent Oscar winner whose career has seen a major resurgence following his Academy Award for Best Actor in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale in 2023, Fraser hasn’t lost sight of the roles that made him a star to begin with.

The Mummy signalled Fraser’s true breakout success as a leading man, following earlier appearances in films like Encino Man and George of the Jungle. As the beginning of a major franchise that remade a 1932 classic, Fraser reprised his role as Rick O’Connell in the sequels The Mummy Returns and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Brendan Fraser And The Cast Of The Mummy Have Reunited

The Cast Appeared At The 2025 Fan Expo Denver

At the 2025 Fan Expo Denver on July 6, The Mummy cast members Brendan Fraser, Patricia Velasquez, John Hannah, and Oded Fehr reunited (via People.) This comes 26 years after their first action-adventure together blew audiences away back in 1999, although co-star Rachel Weisz was notably absent from the event.

As an updated reimagining of the 1932 Universal monster movie of the same name, Fraser starred as the treasure hunter Rick O’Connell, who awakens the mummified high priest ImH๏τep and must deal with the consequences of an ancient supernatural curse. As one of the most successful films of 1999, The Mummy continued with sequels and was even rebooted in 2017.

The cast reunited on stage to discuss the film’s legacy in a panel moderated by Collider. Looking back on the enduring appeal of the film, Fraser alluded to the failure of the 2017 reboot, stating, “I know Tom Cruise tried to make his movie, and it ain’t easy! We all know how hard this movie is to make.”

What This Means For The Mummy Franchise

Fraser Has Not Ruled Out The Possibility Of Reprising His Role As Rick O’Connell

Seeing the cast of The Mummy together again after all these years only serves to add fuel to speculation about Fraser’s potential return to the franchise. Following the third entry in the series back in 2008, plans had been made for a fourth Mummy movie that continued the story of Rick O’Connell.

While these plans never came to fruition, Fraser’s recent comeback and Oscar win have meant there’s more interest than ever in seeing him return to this beloved series. Fraser himself has not ruled out the possibility of returning and even said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “I would work with all of those actors again.”

It’s impossible to say if this reunion could be a harbinger of a long-awaited fourth Mummy movie entering production, but it’s clear that interest in this series has not waned. It may have been over a quarter of a century since it first hit our screens, but The Mummy’s popularity has been well preserved.
