KPop Demon Hunters raises plenty of questions about the future of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey that would need to be answered in a prospective sequel. KPop Demon Hunters introduces a world of demonic powers and supernatural warriors, who use a mix of magic and music to defend innocents and build a barrier between the world and the demon realm. KPop Demon Hunters is a fun and musically powerful film, with a тιԍнт story and good characters to elevate it beyond some standard storytelling tropes.
While KPop Demon Hunters‘ ending resolves the threat of the Saja Boys, it doesn’t answer every lingering question about the band, their histories, and their place in the world. In fact, the movie subtly sets up lots of interesting questions about the lore of the universe and the future of the characters that could easily propel sequel storylines. Here are the biggest unanswered questions from KPop Demon Hunters and what they could mean for future storylines.

What Really Happened To The Last Generation Of Hunters?
The Fate Of The Sunlight Sisters Raises Lots Of Mysteries
One of the most intriguing unanswered questions about KPop Demon Hunters is the fate of the Sunlight Sisters, the previous generation of hunters before HUNTR/X became the world’s defenders. Established in the film’s prologue, the only member of the group who appears in the film’s narrative is Celine.
While Rumi’s mother Miyeong has been confirmed to be ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, it hasn’t been revealed exactly how she died. Celine’s clear pain over the issue and promise to raise a half-demonic Rumi clearly still weighs on her, suggesting it was a tragic death for Celine’s friend. What happened there?
There’s also the mystery surrounding the third unnamed member of the group and what happened to her. She could have also been lost in a fight with the demons, or could even still be alive (and capable of appearing in a sequel). Discovering the final fate of the Sunlight Sisters would illuminate a lot of details about the KPop Demon Hunters‘ world.

How Did Rumi’s Mother Fall In Love With A Demon — And What Happened To Him?
Rumi’s Father Might Still Be Out There
One of the big emotional arcs for Rumi in KPop Demon Hunters is overcoming her lineage as a half-demon. The movie never addresses who Rumi’s father is, what became of him, and how it played into the death of Miyeong. All that’s clear in the movie is that Rumi is the rare “demon” who is spared from Gwi-Ma’s direct control.
This raises several questions about the demon’s nature and fate. He could be a rival demon or a potential ally for Gwi-Ma, setting up possible conflicts in the underworld. This could allow Rumi’s father (or at least the kind of demons he was aligned with) to play an interesting wildcard role in the battle against Gwi-Ma.
Rumi’s father could even still be alive, whether in hiding or imprisoned somewhere on Earth. Discovering Rumi’s demonic heritage could give him reason to finally confront her, especially since Rumi is comfortable showing her demon markings in KPop Demon Hunter’s ending. This could all easily be used as motivation for a sequel storyline.

What Happened To Mira’s Brother?
“Golden” Raises Some Big Questions About Mira’s Personal History
Mira and Zoey’s backstory is only referenced slightly during the film, as most of the movie remains focused on Rumi’s arc. However, Mira’s introduction by the fans and her section of “Golden” suggest she was ostracized by her family for being a “problem child.” However, her brother is also missing in the later pictures.
This older brother is also absent from Mira’s “breaking free” motif in the “Golden” music video. This suggests that Mira doesn’t have the same amount of disdain for her sibling as she has for her parents or that he also ended up pushed out of the family.
However, the movie offers no clues as to what happened to him. Did he also prove to be a “problem child” and become separated from the family? Is he even still alive? Mira’s brother is one of the more minor mysteries of KPop Demon Hunters, but a fascinating one nonetheless.

Could Gwi-Ma Return From The Land Of The Demons?
Gwi-Ma’s Return Could Make Him The Ultimate Threat Of A Demon Hunters Series
Gwi-Ma is the big bad of KPop Demon Hunters, a demonic enтιтy that seeks to consume the souls of every person on Earth. While his efforts are thwarted by the end of the film, and the demon is even cut in half by Rumi, questions remain whether that was enough to actually destroy the enтιтy.
Gwi-Ma could reconsтιтute in the underworld and come up with a new strategy, establishing him as the ultimate threat of this world. There’s also a chance that, if Rumi was able to slay the demon king, the power vacuum left in his wake could be filled by a new (and potentially even more dangerous) force.
A sequel to KPop Demon Hunters could delve more into the specifics of how Gwi-Ma and the rest of the demons work — especially if Gwi-Ma returns to bedevil the world again. Gwi-Ma could even have rivals of some kind, which could set off some pretty big action turns for the sequel.

What Happened To Baby And Romance Saja?
A Saja Boys Reunion Could Be In The Works
One lingering thread from the climax of KPop Demon Hunters is the fate of two of the Saja Boys. While Jinu sacrifices himself to save Rumi, Abs and Mystery were dispatched on-screen by Mira and Zoey respectively. However, the film never concretely reveals what happened to Baby and Romance.
This raises plenty of questions about whether or not they were able to escape the arena in one piece, potentially allowing them to return for prospective sequels. Would they still be under the control of Gwi-Ma, or would they be effectively free of his control on the surface? Would they be evil, or could they potentially find redemption like Jinu did?
Rumi and Jinu were convinced demons could escape Gwi-Ma’s influence. Would that be something Baby or Romance would seek, or would they instead try to undermine or even kill HUNTR/X? Baby and Romance both had a lot of potential that could be further realized if they were given the kind of spotlight that Jinu got in this movie.

How Much Does The World Really Know About The Demons?
The World Might Have Changed Forever Thanks To HUNTR/X’s Big Victory
For much of KPop Demon Hunters, it seems that the world at large is unaware of the presence of demons. The mystical elements of the Saja Boys are only noticed by HUNTR/X, while the supernatural disappearances are chalked up to people simply gone missing.
KPop Demon Hunter‘s optimistic ending leaves a lot of questions about the state of the world…
However, the finale of KPop Demon Hunters seems to showcase the true mystical potential of the world under the surface. There’s a question to be answered about how much the world really realizes about the supernatural. Was HUNTRI/X’s climactic show with the Saja Boys considered just an act?
Or is it possible that the mᴀssive battle against Gwi-Ma was proof to the world at large that there’s something operating behind the scenes? KPop Demon Hunter‘s optimistic ending leaves a lot of questions about the state of the world after Gwi-Ma’s defeat.

Do Other Demon Fighting Bands Exist In The World?
A New World Tour Could Introduce New Allies Or Rivals For HUNTR/X
Early in KPop Demon Hunters, it is established that the hunters have been born for generations. A trio of women is called to the duty, coming together to form a band that can help them contain the demons and keep them from getting loose on the world.
The exact origins of the Demon Hunters aren’t revealed, however, leaving plenty of questions to be asked about the lore of the trio and their origins. This could also extend to other possible groups from around the world, incorporating different kinds of music into the universe.
This could be an interesting way to expand the world of KPop Demon Hunters and introduce plenty of new characters to team up with Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, whose own duties and musical skills could contrast against HUNTRI/X. These are the kinds of questions that KPop Demon Hunters sets up but doesn’t answer, leaving plenty of sequel potential.
