Ahead of the release of Happy Gilmore 2, the iconic hockey-stick putter used by Adam Sandler’s тιтular character is now available for purchase. Along with using the hockey-stick putter to compete, Happy famously chases Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) with it in the original movie.
Sandler and McDonald are reprising their respective roles in Happy Gilmore 2‘s story, where Happy will use an updated version of the unique putter on the golf course as teased in the marketing for the comedy sequel. The putter was a gift from Happy’s mentor, Chubbs Peterson, who was played by the late Carl Weathers.
According to Golf.com, Odyssey will be selling a limited edition of Happy’s hockey-stick putter for $499.99 beginning on Friday, July 25, the same day that Happy Gilmore 2 begins streaming on Netflix.
The putter is 44 inches, has a 57˚ lie angle, and a 21″ grip. A custom yellow-and-black tube sock with Happy’s name and the “Just tap it” quoted sтιтch into it comes with the purchase as well. Limited edition Happy Gilmore 2 golf balls are already available to buy.
What This Means For Happy Gilmore Fans
They Can Bring Their Happy Gilmore Dreams To Life
Happy Gilmore fans can now have their very own version of the hockey-stick putter to celebrate the original movie and the release of the sequel. Unlike many movie-related items that fans can buy, though, this is one that can actually be used, with a function that goes beyond just having it for display.
A Callaway spokesperson did clarify that the hockey-stick putter does not adhere to the Rules of Golf because it is flat, but this is unlikely to be a chief concern for those who purchase the item. Fans can still bring the putter to the golf course and live out their own version of Happy Gilmore scenes while playing with it.
Between the $499.99 price tag and being a limited-edition item, the putter does not come cheap and only a finite amount is being made. For those willing and able to spend the money, the exclusivity of the putter will make the purchase all the more exciting, especially after none are left to buy.
Our Take On The Happy Gilmore Hockey-Stick Putter
It’s Great Marketing
As someone who doesn’t play golf, I have no interest in spending $499.99 on a hockey-stick putter, but I am happy for the many people that will be interested in it. Happy Gilmore is undeniably one of the best golf movies of all time, and it makes sense to capitalize on that during Happy Gilmore 2‘s release by selling this putter.
