Scarlett Johansson Closes In On Another All-Time Actor Box Office Record

Scarlett Johansson is among the most profitable stars in Hollywood history, and she is likely to hit an unprecedented new box office milestone by the time Jurᴀssic World Rebirth finishes playing in theaters. With a strong opening weekend for Rebirth, Johansson’s status as a box office draw has only continued to be cemented in the public eye.

The best Scarlett Johansson movies have allowed her to show incredible dynamism from one role to the next. From strong dramas like Marriage Story to action thrillers like Lucy and Black Widow, she has proven herself a multifaceted performer. Even more important, however, is the financial draw that Johansson clearly has.

This past week, Johansson became the highest-grossing actor in Hollywood history. This statistic is of course greatly bolstered by her Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings, but also attests significantly to Johansson’s draw. Following this impressive record, she is now on the precipice of achieving something no actor has ever done in Hollywood history.

Scarlett Johansson Will Be The First Lead Actor Whose Movies Have Made $15 Billion At The Box Office

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Will Push Her Across This Milestone Soon

Johansson just became the highest-grossing actor in Hollywood history, and her worldwide total is very close to crossing $15 billion. Up to now, films that feature Johansson in a major role have earned $14.8 billion, putting her above the $14.6 billion and $14.3 billion earnings of her MCU co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr., respectively.

Highest-Grossing Actor

Total Worldwide Gross

Scarlett Johansson

$14.8 billion

Samuel L. Jackson

$14.6 billion

Robert Downey Jr.

$14.3 billion

Zoe Saldaña

$14.2 billion

Chris Pratt

$14.1 billion

While many stars have crossed the $14 billion threshold, none of the highest-grossing stars have yet hit this $15 billion range. With a $1 billion gross for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth still possible, it is now certain that Johansson will be crossing this milestone in the coming weeks.

Could Scarlett Johansson Become The First $16 Billion Box Office Star Too?

Other Stars Will Hit The $15 Billion Cap And Beyond In The Next Two Years

Johansson will be the first to earn $15 billion at the worldwide box office, but others will quickly follow. In order to cross even further into the $16 billion range, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth would need to earn nearly $1.5 billion. While the franchise has done this previously, with the first Jurᴀssic World‘s $1.6 billion, it is not likely here.

With no other major franchise films in the works, Johansson is not likely to become the first $16 billion star. Instead, Zoe Saldaña will likely earn another billion with Avatar: Fire and Ash, and that film earning more than $1.8 billion and pushing her to that level is likely following the $2.3 billion earnings of Avatar: The Way of Water.

If not Saldaña, there are several other stars that will cross this threshold in the coming years. Robert Downey Jr. will star in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which will earn a great deal. While Scarlett Johansson will certainly be the first $15 billion star, this list is sure to experience shakeups in the coming years.
