A third installment in Ben Affleck‘s action franchise looks more likely as the $102 million sequel remains a streaming hit a full month later. Though Affleck has been acting since he was a child, it wasn’t until the 1990s that he became a more widely known presence.
Dazed and Confused (1993) and Mallrats (1995) remain some of his most notable early roles, but it was Good Will Hunting (1997) that really helped his leading-man career take off. After this Oscar-winning Matt Damon collaboration, Affleck found himself regularly appearing in thrillers and more action-heavy films.
The Town (2010) remains one of Affleck’s most seminal thrillers, on top of тιтles like Argo (2014) and Gone Girl (2014). In addition to his work in the DCU as Batman, the actor also starred in a 2016 film called The Accountant from director Gavin O’Connor, a film that eventually developed a pᴀssionate fan following.
The Accountant 2 Continues Its Streaming Domination
The Ben Affleck Movie Remains An Audience Draw
The Accountant 2 has now remained a top film on streaming for a full month. Featuring O’Connor back in the director’s chair, the 2025 sequel sees Affleck reprise his role as math savant Christian Wolff, this time to solve the murder of a Treasury chief alongside his brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal).
The thriller sequel hit theaters in April, almost a full decade after the ending of The Accountant seemingly concluded Christian’s story. The follow-up has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, and O’Connor has been vocal about wanting to make a third installment.
Per FlixPatrol, The Accountant 2 currently occupies the number two spot on Prime Video’s top 10 movies list in the U.S. The sequel has been in the top 10 for 31 days and counting, spending most of this time as number one. As of writing, the top 10 movies list is as follows:

What This Means For The Accountant Franchise
Will A Third Film Happen?
The Accountant was a success in theaters back in 2016, but the film showed great strength on streaming in subsequent years, which is a large part of why a sequel got made. This new installment, then, could be following in the first movie’s footsteps.
Whether this is enough to get The Accountant 3 made, however, is unclear. The sequel was made on an estimated budget of $80 million, a bump up from the original’s $44 million budget. The film could have been looking at a break-even point of $200 million, a goal it clearly fell far short of at a $102 million worldwide gross.
How much streaming success it takes to bridge this box office gap, then, is the big question. The Accountant 2‘s ending leaves the door open for a sequel with Christian and Brax, but any follow-up may have to be made at a lower budget level.
The franchise’s future currently remains unclear, but audiences are evidently continuing to enjoy The Accountant 2 on streaming. The longer the film remains in the top 10, the better the chances are of this Affleck franchise becoming a trilogy.
