Jason Statham’s Entire Career Is Summed Up By 2 Minutes & 40 Seconds From His 23-Year-Old Action Movie

Jason Statham has had an impressive career, and it can all be summed up by one scene in his 23-year-old action movie, The Transporter. Released in 2002, The Transporter is an English-language French film directed by Corey Yuen, which focuses on Statham’s character, Frank Martin, a professional “transporter” who specializes in delivering packages without asking questions, following a strict code.

The action film’s success spawned a whole franchise of Transporter movies, further launching the actor into international fame. In the years since, Statham has formulated his own niche, especially in the action genre, starring in many large franchises. However, Jason Statham’s best fight scene is still in The Transporter, as it pretty much sums up the rest of his filmography.

The Transporter’s Bus Depot Fight Has Everything You Could Want From Jason Statham

Jason Statham Is Known For Certain Tropes

There are many great movie scenes in Jason Statham’s career, as the actor has proved himself as a professional in the genre. However, the bus depot fight scene in The Transporter stands out among the rest, as it has everything that you could want from a Jason Statham movie: great physical action, ᴅᴇᴀᴅpan humor, and a bit of ridiculousness.

As Statham’s Frank squares up with a thug in the bus depot, audiences are set up for a classic, realistic fight. Yet, this quickly takes a left turn when Frank punches the thug in the unmentionables. The humorous moment breaks the tension of the fight and demonstrates Frank’s skills, a staple Statham move that has become popular in John Wick.

It’s everything you expect from the actor.

When Frank is overpowered, an element of silliness presents itself to give his character the upper hand, and Statham’s character knocks over large canisters of oil. The ensuing fight is one of Jason Statham’s most ridiculous scenes, with Frank masterfully slipping out of everyone’s grip, before sliding rather comedically away from gunfire. It’s everything you expect from the actor.

The Transporter Is Still One Of Jason Statham’s Stronger Action Roles

Statham’s Early Role Set Him Up For Success

Although some consider Jason Statham’s first movie to be his best, a trend for many actors, The Transporter certainly shines as one of his stronger action roles. Despite somewhat mixed reviews, critics praised Statham as well as the action sequences, and it was his brilliant performance that helped to greenlight a sequel, creating the $300 million Transporter franchise.

Three years after his acting debut, The Transporter helped launch an amazing career for Statham, and its reception cemented the classic tropes that continuously appear in his filmography. Therefore, The Transporter is one of Jason Statham’s stronger action roles, as it is a fantastic early example of why Statham would grow to be such a great action movie star.
