Tim Burton’s Next Movie Is Something I’ve Wanted For 13 Years & It’s Better Than Beetlejuice 3

Tim Burton has already announced his next movie project, and the news of this project that I’ve wanted for 13 years is already better than Beetlejuice 3. Tim Burton was the visionary behind some beloved projects and franchises, and while many of his movies are adored, this return to form for Tim Burton has me more excited for one of his projects than I have been in years.

Tim Burton started his career as a beloved film director, with him being behind iconic movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, and his Batman movies. Unfortunately, public reception of his films started to take a downward turn in the 2000s, with his recent years featuring movies like Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland.

Luckily, 2024 saw the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which many fans saw as a return to form for the director. The sequel proved that Tim Burton still had it, showing that magic can still be made when he worked with his original ideas. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice got many excited for what Burton has next, and this project has finally been announced.

Tim Burton Returning To Animation Is Very Exciting

After 2012’s Frankenweenie

Tim Burton has confirmed that he is working on an animated project next, and this is incredibly exciting. Burton previously directed 2005’s Corpse Bride and 2012’s Frankenweenie, both of which are fantastic animated films from the filmmaker. He also produced and wrote the story for The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was directed by Henry Selick.

I am working on something that’s an animated project, yes. So hopefully I’ll have a script soon and then I’ll take it from there. But it’s something I’m very excited about.

Burton’s live-action projects are great, but I have always felt that his signature style is more suited to animation. Because of this, I can’t wait to see Burton return to the world of animation after more than a decade, even though very little is known about the project.

Burton has revealed nothing about the story of his animated project, meaning that it is unknown if it is an original story or part of a pre-existing franchise. He hasn’t even confirmed if it was a movie, meaning that it could be a TV show, something Burton has delved into with Wednesday. Either way, I am incredibly excited to see it.

Beetlejuice 3 Should Happen, But It’s Better With A Wait

Beetlejuice 3 is inevitable after the box office success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but I am glad that Tim Burton is making audiences wait for the sequel. One of the reasons that 2024’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was so exciting is that it had been nearly 40 years since the 1988 original. Rushing out a sequel would make the third film feel less exciting and more like a cash-in on the second film’s success.

On top of that, Tim Burton’s involvement was one of the reasons that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was so good. After years of making not-so-great studio projects, Burton should be allowed to continue doing what he wants, rather than getting tied down to another sequel. It is much better for Burton to work on the animated project now and make Beetlejuice 3 when he is ready.
