Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Sets Up A Wildly Different Future For The Franchise

The article contains spoilers for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. The Jurᴀssic franchise could have a significantly different future after Jurᴀssic World Rebirth introduced a new way for humans to benefit from dinosaurs. In 2015’s Jurᴀssic World, John Hammond’s vision for the original Jurᴀssic Park was finally realized. Visitors traveled from all over the world to see the prehistoric creatures, and Masrani Global Corporation brought in mᴀssive profits.

That wasn’t enough, as the company tried to create more exciting dinosaurs, like the Indominus Rex, and other malicious parties wanted to weaponize dinosaurs for warfare or criminal enterprises. Eventually, the theme park collapsed, and humanity’s desire to control dinosaurs led to the creatures running loose on the mainland, creating an ecological nightmare.

Rebirth picks up several years after Dominion, establishing that humans and dinosaurs coexist, but in separate environments. However, humans return to the dinosaur’s environment to create a medical drug utilizing their DNA. This breakthrough could lead to further efforts by companies or governments to exploit dinosaurs for research purposes, setting up a new future for this franchise.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Sets Up A Much Bigger Dinosaur DNA Story

Humans Can Use Dinosaurs For Medical Advancement

In Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, a pharmaceutical rep named Martin Krebs recruits a group of scientists and mercenaries to travel to an island called Ile Saint-Hubert, formerly used by InGen to create transgenic dinosaurs. The team’s goal is to collect blood samples from three mᴀssive dinosaurs: a Mosasaurus, a тιтanosaurus, and a Quetzalcoatlus.

The belief is that these three dinosaurs hold the key to creating a miracle drug for humanity that can cure heart disease. Previous films in the franchise have shown people trying to weaponize dinosaurs or use them as tourist attractions. However, Rebirth is the first film that establishes that dino-DNA could be used for medical breakthroughs.

Where Jurᴀssic World 5 Could Take The Franchise After Rebirth

Humans May Not Be Done With Dinosaurs Yet

As seen in past Jurᴀssic World movies, people will exploit or weaponize dinosaurs if it means more money in their pockets. Even though Martin dies, Jonathan Bailey’s character still plans to reveal the miracle drug to the whole world. If Jurᴀssic World 5 happens, it could see more shady organizations exploiting dinosaurs for other medical breakthroughs, possibly searching for a cure for other diseases.

Rebirth begins with an explanation that dinosaurs only lived in tropical regions near the equator, since other areas were largely uninhabitable for them. If people or companies travel to these areas with the hopes of collecting or researching dinosaurs, it could lead to another ecological disaster. As the first six Jurᴀssic films demonstrated, it’s best to leave dinosaurs alone, even if it could benefit humans.
