KPop Demon Hunters Star’s Next Movie Is A Sci-Fi Thriller, & It’s Officially Getting A US Release

Korean content has been dominating the international landscape thanks to projects like Parasite and Squid Game. Ever since Bong Joon Ho’s thriller won the historic prize for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, many streamers and studios have concentrated their interest on producing more K-content. K-dramas themselves gained more attention since Squid Game became an overnight sensation on Netflix.

With so much interest in K-content, it’s now inspiring movies based on pop culture. This includes Netflix’s latest fantasy musical, KPop Demon Hunters, which has already been topping the streamer’s global charts since its release.

With the movie also earning near-unanimous positive reviews, there has been strong word-of-mouth and conversations about submitting the songs for awards consideration. Now, one of its stars has a new thriller movie coming up, and it just received a United States release date.

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy Is Getting A United States Release

It’s Coming To Theaters On August 1, 2025

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy has just received a United States release. The upcoming Korean thriller is based on the highly popular web novel and webtoons, known as “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” which was created by singNsong. The webtoon has over 2.5 billion views.

The upcoming movie will star KPop Demon Hunters actor Ahn Hyo-seop, who portrays Kim Dokja. He is the only reader of “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse,” but things take a turn when the novel becomes reality. While encountering the novel’s hero, Dokja must work with others to save the world and create his own ending.

Now, Capelight Pictures reveals that Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy will get a United States release on August 1, 2025. It releases one week after it arrives in South Korea and is expected to become one of the biggest releases.

Why Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy’s US Release Is Such A Big Deal

K-Content Is On The Rise

Firstly, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy is based on one of the most popular webtoons, and it’s the latest to get the live-action movie treatment. On the other hand, there is a growing interest in Korean movies worldwide, so securing a United States release means that the adaptation has strong potential to do well at the box office.

In particular, while Korean movies are very accessible via streaming thanks to streamers like Netflix, it’s not common to find those films land theatrical releases on US soil. Some of the few occasions include Parasite, which ultimately became one of the biggest movies in recent times, especially due to its award potential. Nevertheless, it sounds like Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy will be a huge movie to keep an eye on.
