Both Han Solo Actors Joined Another Sci-Fi Franchise This Year

Both actors known for portraying Han Solo have joined another sci-fi franchise that is not Star Wars, coincidentally, in the same year. Han Solo is one of the very best characters in Star Wars, beloved for his rugged charm, heart of gold, and, of course, the performances that brought him to life.

Since the first Star Wars movie, two actors have had the honor of bringing the loveable scoundrel to the big screen.

Of course, Harrison Ford portrayed Han Solo in the original trilogy, often considered the best Star Wars movies. Ford reprised his role for Star Wars: The Force Awakens before Alden Ehrenreich took over for the character’s origin film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. In a coincidental 2025, both of these actors joined the same franchise away from Star Wars.

Harrison Ford & Alden Ehrenreich Have Both Joined The MCU

A New Franchise Welcomes Both Versions Of Han

The franchise in question is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By the time 2025 is over, the MCU will have released three major theatrical movies and six TV shows. The first of these movies was Captain America: Brave New World, in which Harrison Ford played President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and his alter ego, Red Hulk.

Where Ehrenreich is concerned, his MCU came in the third of Marvel’s 2025 TV shows: Ironheart. Ehrenreich portrays Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane, the son of the MCU’s first supervillain, Obadiah Stane. Although it is unlikely the two characters will ever meet in the MCU, 2025 brought both versions of Han Solo into the franchise in a matter of months.

Will Any Other Star Wars Heroes Join The MCU Soon?

The MCU Has No Shortage Of Roles

Given the wide-reaching status of the MCU, Ehrenreich and Ford are not the first Star Wars actors to have appeared in the franchise. Nonetheless, their coincidental debuts in the same year raise the question of whether any other Star Wars actors will make their way over to Marvel. For instance, John Boyega has been rumored for an MCU role for a while.

Many have campaigned for Boyega, who played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, to become a member of the MCU. Some thought Boyega could have been the actor chosen to play Kang the Conqueror after Jonathan Majors’ ᴀssault charges, but it seems Marvel went in another direction by pivoting to Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Since then, Boyega has commented that he wouldn’t mind playing Bishop, a mutant who will likely be involved in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie. Nothing is confirmed, but this would be a great casting decision. Another rumor versed solely in speculation is an MCU role for Ryan Gosling, who is set to appear in 2027’s Star Wars: Starfighter.

It has long been rumored that Gosling is in talks to portray Johnny Blaze, also known as Ghost Rider. Whether either of these casting choices happens or not remains to be seen, but Gosling and Boyega could be great Star Wars additions to the MCU after Alden Ehrenreich and Harrison Ford in 2025.
