Zed & Addison’s Upcoming Conflict Previewed By Zombies 4: Dawn Of The Vampires Cast

Three years after the third film, Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires premieres Thursday, July 10 on Disney Channel and will be available to stream next-day on Disney+. The much-anticipated continuation of the franchise will see Zed and Addison embark on another adventure when their summer road trip goes awry. Stuck in the middle of another monster rivalry, the duo, along with Eliza and Willa, “try to unite their warring worlds before an even greater threat endangers them all.”

Zombies 4 features the return of cast members Milo Manheim, Meg Donnelly, Chandler Kinney, and Kylee Russell. The fourth movie also adds two new stars, with Freya Skye and Malachi Barton portraying Nova and Victor. The characters find themselves drawn to one another, despite the ongoing feud between the Daywalkers and the Vampires, paralleling the original film and giving new life to the franchise.

ScreenRant interviews Manheim, Donnelly, Skye, and Barton about their all-time favorite vampires, their characters’ storylines in Zombies 4, and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series nostalgia.

Nova And Victor’s Struggles In Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires Explained By Stars

“It’s the whole thing of having to choose between your head and your heart.”

Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires sees Nova step up into a leadership position when her father entrusts her with looking out for the Daywalkers. When asked about the character’s struggles between obeying her parent and what she feels is right, Skye admits that she admires her ability to think outside of herself.

It was really difficult. I think she always had that inkling that she wanted something more for the Daywalkers, but the fact that she actually went out and went for it was just something that I found to be really inspiring. But it’s the whole thing of having to choose between your head and your heart.

Meanwhile, Barton discusses Victor’s internal struggle in the film, admitting that curiosity can be seen as a negative when he’s only been taught one thing his entire life. “I think that [Victor], oftentimes, struggled with the feeling of being the odd one out because he was the only one that was saying, ‘Hey guys, I want to go experience the world. I want to go experience more than what we’ve been taught,'” Barton shares. The actor also believes Victor is in a “transitional time” of growing and maturing, which leads to him “struggling with finding his place.”

Zed And Addison Will Face New Challenges In Zombies 4: Dawn Of The Vampires

“I think that the challenge that they’re facing right now is stepping up to the plate and realizing that their job as leaders is calling for them.”

Zed and Addison’s forbidden romance has been a staple of the Zombies franchise ever since it kicked off in 2018. The couple has overcome their fair share of obstacles, but Dawn of the Vampires will see the two entering a new life stage after graduating from Seabrook High School. While there will be “lots of conflict,” Manheim reᴀssures fans it’s “nothing the two can’t handle.”

“I think that the challenge that they’re facing right now is stepping up to the plate and realizing that their job as leaders is calling for them,” the star shares. He adds that Zed and Addison are “really working together as a team this movie,” despite their roadblocks. “Nothing we haven’t been through before in Zombies 1, 2, and 3, but it’s just different this time,” Manheim tells ScreenRant. “We’re outside of Seabrook. We’ve really got to make an impact before it’s too late with these two groups with fangs.”

Zombies 4: Dawn Of The Vampires Cast Answers Our Burning Questions

“I don’t know if Nosferatu is a vampire, but Nosferatu specifically in SpongeBob.”

ScreenRant: In the theme of the film, who are your favorite vampires of all time?

Freya Skye: Stefan Salvatore [from] The Vampire Diaries. Stefan and Damon. I can’t even pick. And then Edward from Twilight. They’re my all-time favorites.

Malachi Barton: Shoutout—wifey, Hailee Steinfeld in Sinners. I just watched it for the first time, and it was insane. It’s wild. Wild. Honestly, Hailee Steinfeld and Michael B. Jordan. They both did great.

Milo Manheim: I’m going to just go with my boy Eddie from Twilight. Edward.

Meg Donnelly: Probably Dracula. Or Nosferatu. Is he a vampire? I don’t know if Nosferatu is a vampire, but Nosferatu specifically in SpongeBob. When it’s the Hash-Slinging Slasher, and they’re like, “Nosferatu,” and he’s like [thumbs up].

ScreenRant: Now, Meg, we’re at summer camp. There’s some musical action, a little bit of compeтιтion. You’re in a leadership position. I have to know, did you get any High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 nostalgia?

Meg Donnelly: Oh, wow. Honestly, yeah. Definitely channeled some Val energy. I think the whole being a camp counselor and being a leader and kind of stepping into that role—I definitely took some inspiration from that for sure. That was so fun.

ScreenRant: If you had to choose, would you be a Daywalker or a Vampire?

Meg Donnelly: I love the glittery part of being a Daywalker. Because I love glitter, and I love Nova as a character, but since I’m on the Vampire side and I spent the most time with the Vampires and they’re just really cool, I’m going to go with Vampires.

Milo Manheim: I think I answered this question a little bit ago, and I said, Daywalkers because of their powers, but I also have just been silently reflecting, and I really love nighttime. I just prefer night to day, all the time. So I think for that reason, my love for night is so strong, I shall be a Vampire. That felt like a Shakespearean quote.
