Chuck Lorre’s New Netflix Comedy Embraces Chaos In New Trailer

A new comedy series is coming from seasoned sitcom writer Chuck Lorre, with the first trailer now available. Co-created by Lorre, Susan McMartin, and Leanne Morgan, Leanne is a new upcoming sitcom about its тιтle character (played by Morgan) making a new life for herself after her husband leaves her, with help from her family, especially her sister Carol (Kristen Johnson).

Chuck Lorre is the Emmy-nominated creator of The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and Two and a Half Men. He also is the co-creator of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the latest Big Bang Theory spinoff that just wrapped up its first season and is renewed for season 2.

The trailer for Leanne introduces us to Leanne, who is completely bewildered when her husband leaves her when seemingly nothing was wrong. She is feeling insecure in the aftermath while trying to manage her relationships with her children, and standing up for herself (in one way or another) when her husband tries to come back. What This Means For Chuck Lorre’s Leanne

Leanne Looks Like Another Good Comfort Sitcom From TBBT Creator

Leanne‘s trailer is arriving relatively close to its release date on Netflix, with only a month to go until July 31. The marketing makes the smart and predictable move of advertising its connection to The Big Bang Theory, as this will likely draw in fans of Lorre’s longtime franchise.

Leanne is advertising a fairly straightforward but heartfelt premise, which audiences have enjoyed before in different forms, now accompanied by Lorre’s brand of humor.

The first trailer especially highlights the comedic talents of the series’ two leads, Leanne Morgan and Kristen Johnson, whose relationship will likely be at the forefront. However, additional marketing (if there is any) could show more of the rest of the cast.

Leanne is advertising a fairly straightforward but heartfelt premise, which audiences have enjoyed before in different forms, now accompanied by Lorre’s brand of humor. The trailer gives us a look at the post-breakup shenanigans with not too long of a wait before the real thing, admittedly perhaps lacking something in terms of intrigue.

Our Take On Leanne’s First Trailer

I’m Looking For A Little More For Leanne To Be Unique

Leanne and her husband in Netflix's Leanne

Leanne‘s premise is one we have seen before, of a comedy about a woman starting a new life after a marriage she believed was solid completely falls apart: Grace and Frankie and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are the examples that immediately come to my mind. So far, I feel like Lorre is going to need to do more for this new show to stand out.

However, the hijinks of regular people, perhaps with one or two unique characteristics, have served Lorre’s career well so far. The Big Bang Theory spinoffs succeed with just regular, lovable characters and the barest connection to the flagship. Leanne could well be popular with the kind of situational comedy it has advertised if people find it in themselves to love Leanne herself.
