Jordan Peele’s Horror Hit With 83% On RT Is Now Trending On Peacock

One of Jordan Peele’s unique horror movies is now a hit on streaming, just a few years after it was a box office hit. Peele originally rose to fame as a comedian, performing sketches alongside Keegan-Michael Key in their own show, Key and Peele. Since then, Peele has made a surprising transition to movies, becoming one of the most exciting voices in the horror genre.

Peele got Hollywood to sit up and take notice with his Oscar-nominated debut Get Out back in 2017. He has since directed Us and Nope, while working on several other high-profile movies as a producer. While Peele’s next movie remains shrouded in mystery, fans have been revisiting his other hits on streaming.

Nope Is Gaining Traction On Peacock

Peele’s Third Movie Is In The Top 10

Three years after making $171.1 million at the box office, Nope is in Peacock’s top 10 most watched movies, proving that it still has the power to captivate and entertain audiences. While some people will be watching Nope for the first time after missing it in theaters, there will also be plenty of people revisiting Peele’s underrated third movie.

Nope never reached the level of critical acclaim that Get Out did, but there’s still a lot to love about the alien invasion movie. Both Get Out and Us have elements of sci-fi, but Nope takes this one step further, as two siblings are watched over by a mysterious alien presence.

Time will tell, but Nope could be an important step in Peele’s evolution as an artist. By continuing to play with genre traditions and tropes, Peele showed that he could turn his incisive mind to a more familiar kind of story. This is a departure from both Get Out and Us, which are both categorized by their bold originality.

Why You Should Watch Nope

Nope Deserves More Attention

Steven Yeun in Jordan Peele's Nope

Nope sees Peele reuniting with Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya, while Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun round out a superb main cast. These three actors all have considerable comedy chops, and Nope manages to get a lot of laughs despite its terrifying main narrative.

Peele’s horror films are often laced with comedy, since both genres operate by surprising the audience and drawing parallels between the mundane and the surreal. It’s impressive that Peele manages to balance the disparate tones of these two genres, with elements of sci-fi and Westerns thrown in for good measure.

Nope received solid reviews back in 2022, but it wasn’t as universally popular as Get Out. Peele’s first movie may be the yardstick by which all his subsequent efforts are measured. Nope at least shows him trying to move away from overly familiar territory. It’s a different kind of movie, but no less entertaining and inventive.
