The DC Heroes and Villains Fest 2025 at Six Flags Magic Mountain is a fun showcase for DC Universe fans of all ages. The show, which is held throughout the day at the Magic Mountain theme park in Los Angeles, California, showcases plenty of fun moments for young fans (and the young at heart). Featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and a host of henchmen roaming the DC Universe area of the park, the interactive experience is especially great for younger guests to the park.
ScreenRant and other members of the press got the chance to attend a media night event for the Heroes and Villains Fest 2025 and saw the charming action up close. We also got to speak with two of the minds behind the event — the President of WOW! Entertainment Mark Brymer and Six Flags Magic Mountain Manager of Entertainment and Events Mike Ostrom — about the development of the fest, the importance of fan interaction, and the national future of the event.
The DC Heroes And Villains Fest Is A Blast
A Colorful And Musical Visit To The DC Universe
The DC Heroes and Villains Fest is a great (but temporary) addition to Magic Mountain that families should miss out on. The showcase kicks off with a parade through the park, which brings performers dressed as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to the DC Universe-themed area of the park. There, families can hop onto several DC-themed rides or try out the snack booths while waiting for performances. Taking place throughout the afternoon, the Heroes and Villains Fest focuses on Joker, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman upending the dedication of a Batman statue.
Throughout the day, guests can visit with their favorite heroes and villains, snapping pictures with them or interacting with the roaming groups of henchmen who move throughout the DC Universe area. At various points, Harley and Catwoman take the stage in the area alongside bands of fellow escaped Blackgate inmates, performing a song and dance routine that encourages engagement with guests. In between performances, younger guests can interact with MC HI-JINX’s Midway Madness and take part in Gotham City’s Superhero for a Day to prove their superhero qualities.
Guests can also indulge in a number of snacks and drinks — although the snack pᴀss might be the way to go, as it allows each pᴀss holder to try out six treats. It all builds to the Superhero Smackdown, where the Justice League finally comes face to face with the trio of villains for a stunt show that has a lot of fun throwing big punches, pulling out grappling hooks, and using time-slowing technology. It has the tone and tenor of the Adam West Batman, and there couldn’t be a greater compliment for this type of show.
The Heroes and Villains Fest is just the right amount of cornball superheroics to be easily charming, serving as a great musical and stunt show for younger audiences. The performers (both the named heroes and villains, as well as the henchmen) all provided the Fest with a colorful and playful vibe that fits the DC aesthetic, with kids especially drawn into the excitement of rooting for their favorite heroes or singing along with Catwoman and Harley Quinn’s girl bands. It’s a very cute tribute to DC that’s a fun time for the whole family.
How The DC Heroes And Villains Fest Brings Broadway Vibes To The Superhero Universe
“It’s Been Gratifying To See The Crowd React…”
Breaking down the collaboration between Six Flags, Warner Bros. Discovery, and WOW! Entertainment that led to the Heroes and Villains Fest, Mark Brymer explained that it all came down to what DC wanted from the characters. “We were just trying to be like a sponge and learn as much as we could,” Brymer said. Learning from a similar event held in 2024, Brymer explained that “we wanted to create non-stop entertainment. We knew we wanted to frame it with the parade and bookend it with the stunt show, but what do we put in the middle?”
This led to the development of a “master plan” that allowed the team of performers to figure out a good rhythm for the showcase. “We had a very detailed script room first, and then we did the musical soundtrack. Then we had to work backwards, looking at the script and the prepared soundtrack with our stunt coordinator, who would give us a sense of how long things would take and how much to prepare. We would do little demos… It’s very choreographed and planned out, and that’s why I think it’s really fun.”
“I’ve seen stunt shows in the past where you’re at a distance and the music is secondary. But this all ties together with the theatrics of it. It’s been gratifying seeing the crowd react to that. They get caught up in the story, they get caught up in the action. I was hoping that would happen, but getting to see it like this, fans are really getting it. They’re really enjoying it.” That amount of planning and all-day entertainment was exactly what the team at Six Flags wanted, Mike Ostrom revealed.
“We’ve had a partnership with Warner Bros., but we wanted to advance on that. We wanted to give our guests the ability to interact with the heroes and villains from the DC Universe. Last year, we had a smaller version that had a very successful launch, where we created a storyline throughout the night. It had an opening moment, a bunch of performances during the day, character meet-and-greets, then an epic finale at the end of the night. This year, we just wanted to take all those things that worked and boost them and make it all bigger.”
“We wanted to give a variety of experiences,” Ostrom explained. “Every fan of the DC Universe can see what they want to see. If you want to see Batman fight the Joker, we have that. If you want to meet Catwoman, if you’re a fan of dance performances or improvisational character interactions, we have that. We wanted to bring all the successful things that worked at our park during other events and give them to you in one big show. It’s taking the best of everything we do here and matching it with a great IP and great partners.”
The Future Of The DC Heroes And Villains Fest
“I Think Six Flags Has Big Plans For This Festival…”
The DC Heroes and Villains Fest, which opened on June 20, will be available to all guests of Six Flags Magic Mountain until July 26. There is no additional purchase necessary to see the show beyond a general admission. One of the most exciting things about the event is the way it’s being set up as a moving fixture for other Six Flags Parks around the United States. Brymer confirmed that the show is heading to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey from August 17 to September 11, but it could easily go beyond that in the future.
“Those meaningful one-on-one interactions are really the lifeblood of the event.”
“This is an interesting show because it’s one that travels. We’re going to be moving to New Jersey in August. It’s not only building the set, but then you’ve got to plan on packing and trucking it across the country… It’s very much like putting together a Broadway touring show. As producers, we have to hold onto these memories of the audience enjoying it, because that helps us prepare for next year. I think Six Flags has big plans for this festival… we want to make [the DC Heroes and Villains Fest] as fun as possible.”
Admiring the crowd watching the Super Hero Showdown, OStrom noted that “I think the most surprising thing has been the way the guests interact with the characters. Even the walk-around characters, the henchmen. Those moments are important. Those meaningful one-on-one interactions are really the lifeblood of the event. You get that pH๏τo with Superman, you get that time with him. You can’t do that anywhere else, except for right here at Magic Mountain.”
