Skeleton Crew season 2 may just have been set up in the unlikeliest of ways. Skeleton Crew may not have been the undisputed best of Star Wars’ TV shows, but it was an incredibly fun time with engaging characters and an old-school, compelling story. Despite being part of Star Wars’ New Republic timeline, Skeleton Crew was fairly self-contained.
The show told the story of pirates in the Star Wars galaxy, with the ending of Skeleton Crew season 1 revealing the fabled, hidden treasure planet of At Attin after centuries of isolation. While there has been little information about the story of Skeleton Crew season 2, I may have just figured out a way it could be done.
I, For One, Remember At Attin – & Now I Know Where It Is!
Thanks To Star Wars’ New Galaxy Map
A big part of Skeleton Crew was At Attin’s hidden location. The planet was surrounded by a Barrier that kept it secret from the outside, before Jod Na Nawood and his pirate crew found it for themselves. Before that, though, as the helpful pirate droid SM-33 kept insisting, no one remembered any At Attin.
Now that the planet’s secretive Barrier has been dropped, everyone does, and Star Wars proved it. In June 2025, Star Wars‘ official website unveiled an interactive galaxy map, revealing exactly where At Attin lies. Rather than being hidden in the far reaches of the Outer Rim as many ᴀssumed, the planet actually has some interesting, well-known Star Wars neighbors.
One of At Attin’s celestial neighbors is more interesting than the rest, potentially setting up Skeleton Crew season 2, should Lucasfilm ever decide to produce it.
At Attin Is Suspiciously Close To Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Base
Thrawn’s Base Of Operations Was Outlined In Ahsoka
As part of the New Republic section of Star Wars’ vast timeline, Skeleton Crew takes place alongside TV shows like Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, and upcoming Star Wars movies like The Mandalorian and Grogu. These stories are slowly converging around the resurgence of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the efforts of the New Republic and its allies to stop him.
Skeleton Crew was fairly removed from this overall plot, yet the new Star Wars galaxy map could have just set up exactly how the show could tie into the wider New Republic stories. As of Ahsoka season 1’s ending, Grand Admiral Thrawn was back in the main Star Wars galaxy, setting up a home base on the planet of Dathomir.
The galaxy map released by Lucasfilm showcases that the closest planet to At Attin is Dathomir itself. The New Republic’s discovery of At Attin could place the organization on a collision course with Thrawn, despite Dathomir being a planet seldom visited. Beyond that, a more direct setup of Skeleton Crew season 2 could link to Thrawn’s own motivations.
Thrawn Would Consider At Attin A Perfect Target
A Treasure Planet Would Be Very Useful
Thrawn’s new base means he will be looking to strike out at the New Republic in the near future. Although the minute, intricate details of Thrawn’s exact plan remain unknown, it is clear he wishes to reinstate the Empire’s rule over the Star Wars galaxy. This will lead to war with the New Republic and if wars cost anything besides lives, it is money.
Thrawn has been away for a while, and the Imperial remnants of the galaxy have some funding, though not the backing of the old Republic like they did under Palpatine’s rule. Therefore, Thrawn will need a way to fund his war efforts. Lucky for him, a once-fabled, now very real treasure planet is sitting on his doorstep.
At Attin’s many vaults contain billions of incredibly valuable Old Republic credits, which could be very useful to Thrawn. In Skeleton Crew season 2, the kids of the show could find themselves facing more attacks on their planet now that its wealth has been broadcast to the wider galaxy.
To maintain the show’s specific style and further establish Thrawn’s tactical mind, the villain would be smart about this.
Thrawn could figure out the planet was a target for the pirates of Jod Na Nawood’s crew, staging an attack on At Attin as more pirate shenanigans. This would be a great way to preserve the essence of Skeleton Crew and reintroduce Jude Law’s character for season 2, all while tying it to Thrawn’s broader plans.
