Another Meet the Parents 4 return from a previous star, now 83 years old, is possible, but only if one condition is met. A fourth film in the series is officially in development with John Hamburg, who co-wrote the first three films, set to both write and direct the project. Meet the Parents 4 will feature the return of Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, and Owen Wilson, with Ariana Grande also joining the cast in her first role since Wicked.
During a recent interview with Variety, Barbra Streisand addressed a possible return in Meet the Parents 4. The star says she would only consider returning if she were paid significantly more, as she was underpaid compared to her male co-stars in earlier films. She highlighted the pay disparity for women at the time, though she appreciated a bonus check from Universal’s then-head, Ron Meyer. Read her full comments below:
Oh my God. They’d have to pay me a lot of money because I didn’t get paid what the other people got paid and so I’m pissed off. I was in the time when women were getting paid less than the men. The head of Universal was Ron Meyer at the time, and he actually sent me a bonus check. It was very sweet.
What Barbra Streisand’s Comments Mean For Her Meet The Parents 4 Return
She Has Already Worked With Ariana Grande
Barbra Streisand starred in Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers as Roz Focker, the mother of Ben Stiller’s Greg who works as a Sєx therapist for older couples. If, hypothetically, Streisand’s Roz Focker were to return in Meet the Parents 4, it would also likely necessitate the return of her husband, the quirky yet warm-hearted and friendly Bernie Focker, played by Dustin Hoffman, who is now 87 years old. However, if Streisand returns and Hoffman is unable, his character could be written out of the story.
Streisand and Ariana Grande just recently worked together, which could increase their chances of reuniting for Meet the Parents 4. Streisand has a new album, “The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two,” which features a collection of duets with various artists, including Grande and Mariah Carey, who join her on the song “One Heart, One Voice.” Streisand calls them “the H๏τtest, biggest, most wonderful voices,” so she might not be able to pᴀss up the opportunity of working with Grande again, even if they seemingly won’t be singing together.
Our Take On Barbra Streisand Returning In Meet The Parents 4
Can They Afford Her?
Since she says she will only return if she is paid “a lot of money,” it’s unclear if Meet the Parents 4 can afford Barbra Streisand. The film already features the return of big stars like Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, and Owen Wilson, and the addition of Ariana Grande after her Oscar-nominated role as Glinda in Wicked. Meet the Parents 4 might simply not be able to afford all these stars and Streisand, though her and Dustin Hoffman’s return would bring back all four parents.
However, made on a $100 million budget, Little Fockers featured all these aforementioned stars and more – such as Jessica Alba, Laura Dern, Kevin Hart, and Harvey Keitel – so there’s no reason why Meet the Parents 4 shouldn’t be able to afford Streisand.
Meet the Parents 4 is scheduled for release on November 25, 2026.
