Brad Pitt‘s 2022 action film has found new life as a hit on streaming, and the blockbuster has earned its place in HBO Max’s top 10. For more than 30 years, Brad Pitt has been one of Hollywood’s most consistent leading men, and he continues to headline major motion pictures on the regular. Whether he’s playing hunky bad boys or hardboiled action heroes, Pitt approaches every character with an aplomb that helps make him so appealing. Even as he begins to diversify his output, Brad Pitt’s status as one of the industry’s most in-demand stars hasn’t faded.
Now, nearly three years after the movie’s impressive run in theaters, Bullet Train has sH๏τ its way up the chart on HBO Max. For the week of June 18, Flix Patrol noted that the Brad Pitt-led action epic reached its highest position of 5th on the charts, pᴀssing popular favorites like How to Train Your Dragon and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. As of June 24, Bullet Train has dropped out of the top 10, but it’s unclear if the movie will make a return in coming days.
What This Means For Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train
The John Wick-Style Action Film Continues To Be Popular
Bullet Train is the type of movie that has everything, and it was a hit when it first arrived in theaters. The film grossed over $230 million during its theatrical stint (via Box Office Mojo), and is one of the more successful John Wick-style action films that isn’t actually part of the franchise. Add in the starpower of Pitt and his co-stars, and Bullet Train also has all the makings of a streaming hit too. The fast-paced action and fun visuals make the movie incredibly rewatchable, and many who enjoyed it in theaters are probably returning to watch it again.
Our Take On Bullet Train’s Streaming Success
There’s Nothing Surprising About The Movie’s Popularity
The fact that Bullet Train was a hit on HBO Max isn’t surprising in the slightest. In fact, the only thing I find the least bit shocking is that the movie didn’t peak higher on the chart and stick around longer. Brad Pitt is still one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and his presence in a project is enough to elevate it above the deluge of content that’s constantly flooding streaming services. Pitt is also great at limiting his exposure, so every movie he headlines feels important.
Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train was a hit in 2022, but it probably should have been even more successful in its initial run.
On top of that, Bullet Train is just a really great action film, and it’s certainly better than its middling reception from critics when it debuted. The visuals are crisp, and the choreography is fast-paced and exciting when compared to the usual action fare. The cast also features a wide array of talent, and supporting stars like Brian Tyree Henry and Bad Bunny help to elevate every scene. Brad Pitt‘s Bullet Train was a hit in 2022, but it probably should have been even more successful in its initial run.
Bullet Train currently holds a 53% on Rotten Tomatoes.
