Not long after the release of the first film, it was confirmed that both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who play Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, will sing original songs in Wicked: For Good. Beyond some teases from the actresses, not much has been known about either song. However, the trailer for Wicked: For Good teases what Erivo’s brand-new song may sound like.

At the end of the trailer, Erivo can be heard singing an unfamiliar melody. This melody hasn’t been matched up to any songs from the Wicked soundtrack, so it is most likely from her new musical number. None of the lyrics are included in the trailer, but this brief snippet builds even more anticipation for the eventual release of Wicked: For Good. Since Act II of the musical features fewer iconic songs than the first half, these two new original songs could significantly improve Wicked: For Good’s story.

In the original musical, “Wonderful” is a duet that is only sung by Glinda and the Wizard, with nobody else present on stage. During this duet, the Wizard tries to convince Elphaba that he can make the people of Oz love her, as well.

This musical number is seen in the trailer when the Wizard’s throne room is lit up with many different colors. This is an important moment for Elphaba and the Wizard’s characters, but it is currently unclear exactly how Glinda will contribute to this song. Since she remains in Emerald City at the end of the first movie, will Glinda sing along with the Wizard and try to convince Elphaba to stop her rebellion? Is Wicked: For Good’s Wedding Scene Real Or Just A Dream?

Based on the trailer for Wicked: For Good, it seems like Glinda and Fiyero may actually come close to getting married in the movie. In the original musical, Glinda and Fiyero are engaged, but their plans to get married stop when the latter realizes he is in love with Elphaba. Therefore, unlike in the upcoming movie, there is no wedding ceremony in the Broadway musical.

Since there are several sH๏τs of the wedding in the trailer, it should be interesting to see whether Fiyero follows through with the marriage or backs out at the last possible moment in Wicked: For Good. It’s also worth noting that Glinda and Fiyero’s wedding in the movie could be a dream sequence. Perhaps Glinda is jealous that Fiyero is in love with Elphaba and dreams of her perfect wedding. Regardless, including a wedding scene in Wicked: For Good is a major change from the musical.

Ever since the trailer for the first movie was released, fans have been surprised that the adaptations may actually include Dorothy in a prominent role. In the stageplay, only a silhouette of Dorothy can be seen when she pours water on Elphaba, who she knows as the Wicked Witch of the West. The first movie barely included Dorothy at all, but the trailer for Wicked: For Good suggests that we may actually follow Dorothy’s journey throughout the land of Oz.

In the trailer, Dorothy can be seen arriving in Munchkinland and meeting with the Wizard in Emerald City. Therefore, it’s clear that the iconic character will have a much more prominent role in Wicked: For Good than she does in the original musical. Currently, a major question on fans’ minds is whether Dorothy’s face will be shown in the sequel. Rumors suggest that actor Alisha Weir has been cast as Dorothy in Wicked: For Good, but it is currently unknown how much of the character will be shown in the movie.

We See Where Elphaba Is Hiding Out Before She Goes To Kiamo Ko

Kiamo Ko is the fortress where Elphaba and Dorothy face each other in the novels, the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, and the Broadway musical. Therefore, it makes sense that this castle will be featured in Wicked: For Good. However, the new trailer confirms that Elphaba’s hideout before she moves to Kiamo Ko will also be shown in the upcoming movie.

As seen at the beginning of the Wicked: For Good trailer, it appears that Elphaba’s “rebel base” will be a sort of treehouse hidden away in a forest. Since this treehouse is featured multiple times in the trailer, it could end up being a major location in the movie. Therefore, compared to what the original musical reveals, it seems like we may learn a lot more about how Elphaba hides from the Wizard and his allies and how she runs her rebellion in Wicked: For Good.

The Animals Will Attack Emerald City

Speaking of Elphaba’s rebellion, it seems like the animals of Oz will be shown a lot more in Wicked: For Good. Since her learning that the Wizard and Madame Morrible are behind animals losing the ability to talk is one of the main reasons Elphaba starts her rebellion, it makes sense that many animals will be featured in Wicked: For Good. However, since it is not realistic to have animals on stage during a performance, hardly any are featured in the Broadway musical.

Since the movie adaptation has a lot more creative freedom, it appears that a horde of animals will charge through Emerald City in Wicked: For Good. Based on the trailer, it seems possible that the animals will attack during Glinda and Fiyero’s wedding, which might dispel the theory that it is a dream sequence. Perhaps this is why they don’t end up getting married in the movie adaptation. Regardless of what their exact role is in the sequel, it will be great to see more animals in Wicked: For Good.
