MCU X-Men Reboot Movie Casting Rumors Addressed By Avatar Star

A rumored Avatar actor addresses the reports of being looked at for one of the major X-Men characters in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot movie. Marvel Studios is finally getting closer to bringing the X-Men into the MCU on a full-time basis. As Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is reportedly directing the X-Men movie, casting rumors have already been floating around about who may be getting cast as the iconic Marvel mutants.

In a new interview with Comic Book Movie, Avatar. The Way of Water star Jack Champion was recently asked if he could address the MCU rumors that he is being looked at for the role of Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops, in the MCU’s X-Men film. However, while Champion would love to play the next live-action version of Cyclops, the Scream VI actor had the following to say about the X-Men rumors:

It’s, uh, definitely news to me. I mean, I don’t…I hope it comes true, you know. I would definitely love to play that character, but…rumours [shrugs].

What Jack Champion’s Cyclops Comments Mean For The X-Men Reboot

It’s crucial to remember that it’s currently unknown when Marvel Studios intends to release the X-Men film, given that they are getting to the end of The Multiverse Saga with their remaining Phase 6 projects. While Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has huge X-Men plans for the MCU, there is no release date for the reboot movie. That makes it seem highly unlikely that they have started casting for the project yet, especially if the X-Men reboot is a few years out.

As Champion claims he hasn’t heard the Cyclops rumors, it’s possible that he, at the very least, is someone Marvel Studios is looking at, but hasn’t actually made any formal offers to him, since the casting process isn’t happening as of yet. If Champion is actually in talks with Marvel Studios to star in X-Men as Cyclops, he would have to deny it regardless, especially if a deal isn’t signed yet. Based on how Feige has said Avengers: Secret Wars leads into the X-Men era, it’s better to take any X-Men casting rumors with a grain of salt.

The X-Men Huddled and Reading a Comic Marvel

While it may not be anything more than a rumor, it’s also great to hear that Champion is down to play Cyclops in the X-Men reboot for the MCU, given how the mutants will be a pivotal part of the MCU timeline in the coming years. With the number of beloved X-Men characters who exist in the canon, there will likely be a huge number of actors auditioning for any of the mutants when the time comes around. Hopefully, Feige and Marvel Studios will have some actual official updates on the X-Men reboot movie sooner rather than later.
