I’m Convinced The MCU Now Has The Perfect Excuse To Make An 84-Year-Old Part Of The Comics A Movie Reality

Only a few years before Marvel Studios’ first X-Men movie, the MCU introduced a famous X-Men location that Fox’s movies never explored. Fox’s fourteen X-Men films introduced dozens of Marvel characters, from Riptide and Spike to Jean Grey and Professor X. Yet, Fox’s X-Men franchise didn’t pay much attention to the X-Men’s iconic locations. For instance, Genosha, Asteroid M, the White H๏τ Room, and the Southeast Asian island Madripoor never made an appearance in any of the films.

After Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Logan brought the X-Men world to the MCU in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, and following the X-Men’s clash with the Avengers in Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars will likely establish a way for Marvel Studios to reboot the X-Men and integrate all mutant and mutant-related characters into the MCU’s main timeline. Marvel Studios’ first X-Men movie will introduce a brand-new team of mutant heroes. This new adaptation of the X-Men has the chance to explore all the characters and elements that the previous franchise didn’t.

The Savage Land Made A Cameo In Multiverse Of Madness

Stephen Strange and America Chavez fall through the Savage Land universe in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Of the twenty-two universes featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Strange and America Chavez travel through at least sixteen before landing on Earth-838. Between futuristic worlds and hellish landscapes, the heroes travel through a jungle where two dinosaurs are fighting. Speaking to Variety, VFX artist and supervisor Alexis Wajsbrot confirmed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ jungle timeline is none other than Marvel’s Savage Land. According to Wajsbrot, it was Kevin Feige’s idea to make it the official debut of “Savage World,” and the brief sH๏τ was an expensive one due to the addition of the dinosaurs.

Doctor Strange and Clea may be traveling across universes like the Savage World after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ post-credits scene.

In Marvel Comics, the Savage Land is a prehistoric jungle located somewhere in Antarctica, preserved by alien technology and populated by dinosaurs, ancient tribes, and mutated wildlife. Throughout the years, the Savage Land has played a major role in X-Men history as both a battleground and refuge for heroes and villains alike. Characters like Ka-Zar, Shanna, Zabu, and Sauron originated in the Savage Land, though the island’s isolation and harsh conditions have kept it hidden from most human beings.

Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars Could Bring The Savage Land To The MCU

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ Savage World Might Be Coming To Earth-616

Rogue wields a spear next to Magneto and Ka-Zar in the Savage Land

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features the live-action debut of the X-Men’s Savage Land in the form of an alternate universe. Given that the MCU’s X-Men reboot will likely take place after Avengers: Secret Wars‘ multiversal plot, it’s possible that a multiverse-wide reboot will integrate both the X-Men and other alternate timelines in the MCU’s Earth-616, with the Savage Land finding its place somewhere on planet Earth. Drawing inspiration from Marvel’s 2015 Secret Wars storyline, Avengers: Secret Wars‘ ending could bring both the X-Men and the Savage Land into the MCU’s main timeline.

Before that happens, the MCU’s Savage Land could be a portion of Doctor Doom’s Battleworld in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. Like his God Emperor counterpart from Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom might create a patchwork universe from parts of several major timelines, including the Savage Land, the MCU’s Marvel Zombies timeline, Earth-838, and one of Fox’s X-Men timelines. Doom’s efforts may be what brings together characters from all over the multiverse and gives them access to the MCU’s prime universe.

The Savage Land Is Rich In Potential For The MCU’s X-Men Projects

An MCU Movie Set In The Savage Land Would Be A Groundbreaking Project For Marvel Studios

Fox’s X-Men franchise never acknowledged the Savage Land, and the MCU has yet to explore a jungle setting. The Savage Land is a perfect backdrop for a visually striking superhero movie inspired by Jurᴀssic Park. Both for the X-Men and the Avengers, the Savage Land could be an innovative setting for battles against villains like Magneto and Mister Sinister, with the added difficulty of survival against ancient wildlife and the elements. With the right plot, the MCU’s Savage Land could become one of the Mutant Saga’s best new locations.
