Road House 2 Eyeing First New Cast Member, 56, With MCU Experience

Road House 2 is looking at an MCU star to join the upcoming Prime Video prequel. Following the major success of the Road House reboot, Prime Video greenlit the development of a sequel, with Jake Gyllenhaal expected to reprise his role of ex-UFC fighter Dalton. Guy Ritchie will take over the directing duties from Doug Liman, who did the first, as filming is expected to begin sometime this fall. However, there has been little detail about what Road House 2 will entail, but the sequel received one major update.

According to Variety, Dave Bautista has been offered a role in Road House 2. There are very few details about who Bautista will play. There has yet to be a comment from him or Prime Video.

Why Dave Bautista Possibly Joining Road House 2 Is A Big Deal

It May Start A Franchise Trend

If Bautista ends up signing for Road House 2, the franchise would eventually start a trend with former fighters-turned-actors. The 2024 reboot featured Conor McGregor in his debut role as Knox, who became the main antagonist in the movie. While the report doesn’t specify what kind of role Bautista was offered, it wouldn’t be surprising if it leans into the villainous side, which would further continue a trend for the action franchise. Plus, the actor has experience portraying villain roles, including Mr. Hinx in Spectre and Glossu Rabban Harkonnen in the Dune movies.

The casting update is also important, as it indicates lots of movement in developing the sequel. While there isn’t a specific start date for filming, it’s known that the movie is aiming to start shooting sometime in the fall. Aside from Gyllenhaal, there hasn’t been any other casting confirmation, especially whether Billy Magnussen or Daniela Melchior are planning on returning. It’s also unclear if McGregor will reprise Knox since his character did survive at the end of Road House.

Our Thoughts On Dave Bautista’s Potential Casting For Road House 2

He Would Be A Great Addition To The Cast

If Bautista accepts the role, he would be a great addition to the sequel. This comes considering that McGregor’s performance was met with mixed response due to his over-the-top acting. On the other hand, Bautista has become one of the few former wrestlers who have challenged themselves in the acting industry. He has showcased that versatility by accepting both dramatic and comedic roles and has been thoroughly praised for his performance, especially in Blade Runner 2049 and Showgirls. Thus, this new casting update is very exciting for Road House 2.
