Two Huge New Characters Just Joined Dune 3’s Atreides Family

Dune: Part Three adds two major Atreides characters to its cast. After the success of Dune and Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve is writing and directing a third movie, which is based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah. Dune: Part Three‘s cast is expected to see Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh reprising their respective roles of Paul Atreides, Chani, and Princess Irulan. Robert Pattinson has reportedly been in talks to play a new character as well.

Now, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke have been cast as Leto II and Ghanima, who are the twin children of Paul and Chani. The news was first reported by Nexus Point News and later confirmed by ᴅᴇᴀᴅline. Brooke previously appeared in two episodes of Apple TV+’s popular science-fiction series Silo. This is Momoa’s first movie role and will give him the opportunity to work on the same project as his father, Jason Momoa, who has previously confirmed that he is returning as Duncan Idaho.

What This Means For Dune: Part Three

The Sequel Is Not Making A Mᴀssive Change To Its Young Characters This Time

While the adult actors are well-known, Dune: Part Three has cast two relative newcomers to play the important roles of Leto II and Ghanima. The sequel will serve as the young Momoa’s onscreen debut, and for Brooke, this is a much larger role than playing a young Shirley in two episodes of Silo. The young actors are entrusted with playing prominent characters in Dune: Part Three who are vital to the story.

One of the biggest changes in Dune: Part Two was choosing not to have Alia Atreides be born yet, and for the character to only appear in a vision to Paul, where she was played by Anya Taylor-Joy. While a young Alia was omitted from the second movie, Dune: Part Three will not be taking a similar route. Leto II and Ghanima are too important to work around, which led to the decision to cast Momoa and Brooke in these roles. Their casting is also a promising sign of production beginning this summer, as previously reported.

Our Take On Dune: Part Three’s Casting Update

Momoa & Brooke Are Promising Choices

Zendaya looking upset and betrayed as Chani in Dune_ Part Two

With Dune: Part Two being my favorite movie of 2024, I have been eagerly awaiting updates on Dune: Part Three, and am thrilled to now know who will be playing Leto II and Ghanima. This is a mᴀssive undertaking for an actor’s first film role, but having his father in the movie should help Momoa. As for Brooke, I enjoyed her performance as a young Shirley in Silo‘s flashbacks and am eager to see her take on Ghanima. Brooke and Momoa now have an opportunity to showcase their talents on a new scale in Dune: Part Three.
