Netflix’s New Action Thriller With 45% RT Score Climbs Top 5 Most Popular Movie Charts Of All-Time

Netflix’s new 2025 action thriller has become one of the streamer’s top 5 most popular non-English movies of all time. The platform has seen global success in non-English films, with several action тιтles on Netflix having reached mᴀssive viewership and receiving critical acclaim. The top-performing non-English тιтles have more than 100 million views.

Inspired by Norwegian folklore about an ancient troll, the 2022 monster movie Troll, directed by Roar Uthag, tells a tale about the crisis when an ancient troll is awakened by an explosion. The film’s smash success has led to a sequel тιтled Troll 2, which will explore a new threat to the armed forces. Similarly, the French shark thriller Under Paris, which had 102 million views within three months of its release, also received a sequel, with Bérénice Bejo and Nᴀssim Lyes reprising their roles as a marine biologist and a river police commander. Now, a new action thriller is climbing the charts after its release two months ago.

Exterritorial Climbs Netflix’s Top-5 Non-English All-Time Chart

The Jeanne Goursaud Movie Has More Than 83 Million Views

The new crime movie, Exterritorial, stars Jeanne Goursaud as a former special forces soldier who struggles with PTSD while trying to uncover the truth behind her son’s disappearance in a U.S. consulate. Since its release on Netflix on April 30, the movie has achieved streaming success. In less than two weeks, it broke the record for the most-watched German Netflix original film and has landed on the platform’s top 10 non-English chart of all time.

Now, Exterritorial has become the no.5 most popular non-English movie of all time on Netflix, with more than 83 million views, following Nowhere in fourth place at 85 million views and Society of the Snow‘s 98 million viewing record in third. The top of the chart is currently occupied by Troll, which has 103 million views.

Our Take On Exterritorial’s Streaming Success

Despite Having Received Mixed Reviews, Exterritorial Is A Hit

Exterritorial‘s reviews have polarized movie lovers and critics. Many praised the film’s tension-building and highly entertaining action sequences, while others pointed out its unpolished production and the lack of a convincing plot. It seems that despite its mixed reception, the film still manages to achieve global-level success. The fact that the action thriller is now one of the top 5 most popular non-English movies proves its mᴀssive appeal.

The no.10 spot, occupied by We Can All Be Heroes, has 137 million views, which is more than the top 1 non-English movie of all time.

On the other hand, the movie’s popularity still can’t compete with any of the top 10 English-speaking тιтles. The no.10 spot, occupied by We Can All Be Heroes, has 137 million views, which is more than the top 1 non-English movie of all time. The most popular movie of all time on Netflix is currently the mixed-reviewed Red Notice, with more than 239 million views. Nevertheless, Exterritorial is clearly a major success for Netflix, as the streamer continues its global outreach with plenty of international content.
