Where To Watch Dangerous Animals: Showtimes & Streaming Status

Shark movies have been around and thriving ever since Jaws hit theaters back in 1975. There is something terrifying to audiences about what looms below them in the ocean, and filmmakers have found various creative ways to capitalize on that terror. Some are genuinely scary, such as the case in The Shallows or 47 Meters Down, while series like The Meg movies take a sillier approach. The shark film craze has been reignited again through movies like Under Paris, which came out on Netflix last year.

Dangerous Animals is the latest 2025 foray into this genre, but the sharks are less so than the villains themselves. The plot focuses on a shark-obsessed serial killer who abducts a surfer and plans to ritualistically feed her to the hungry sharks. The movie is considered a horror thriller and is directed by Sean Byrne and written by Nick Lepard. The cast includes Hᴀssie Harrison, Jai Courtney, Ella Newton, Josh Heuston, and Liam Greinke. Here is everything to know about the showtimes and streaming status for Dangerous Animals.

Dangerous Animals Releases In Theaters On June 6, 2025

It Is Rated R

Dangerous Animals will have a wide release on Friday, June 6 after releasing in select theaters the previous day, June 5. The film runs at one hour and 38 minutes, making it around the same time as recent shark movies such as Under Paris, which had a 1 hour and 44 minute run time. The movie is rated R for strong bloody violent content, grisly images, Sєxuality, language, and brief drug use. A lot of the violence and blood is due to the shark ritual and the conflict between the characters.

When Will Dangerous Animals Release On Streaming?

It Will Come Out On Shudder

Dangerous Animals is a Shudder production, so it will hit the horror-centered steamer after its theatrical run. A lot of Shudder’s programming is streaming-first, so the fact that Dangerous Animals is even being released in theaters shows that the company has a degree of faith in it. Those that do get theatrical runs are often very limited, even if they have high-caliber casts. Such was the case with the John Lithgow-led The Rule of Jenny Pen, which came out theatrically on March 7 before coming to Shudder on March 28 this year.

Ahead of its release, Dangerous Animals currently has an 87% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Another recent theatrical-to-streaming release from Shudder was In a Violent Nature, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival Midnight group in January 2024. This debut was followed by a May 31 release in theaters and eventually became available on streaming on September 13. Given this recent track record, the streaming release for Dangerous Animals could be estimated. If it follows Jenny Pen, it could come at the end of this month; if it goes the In A Violent Nature route, it will not be available to stream until the fall.

When Will Dangerous Animals Release On Digital?

This Will Depend On Its Box Office Performance

Overall, Dangerous Animals‘ digital and streaming release dates likely depend on how well the movie does in theaters. It has significant compeтιтion coming up, with the same weekend also seeing the wide releases of Ballerina and The Phoenician Scheme, as well as the first showtimes of The Life of Chuck. That said, the past data from Shudder films suggest that it will be on digital by at least sometime in July. This was the case with In A Violent Nature, which hit digital on June 28, 2024, after its release on May 31, 2024.
