Wicked 2 Trailer: Elphaba Reunites With Glinda & Dorothy Meets The Wizard Of Oz

The Wicked: For Good trailer is here. Following Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical, Wicked, which serves as the first part of the story, the upcoming movie continues Elphaba’s (Cynthia Erivo) journey fighting against the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum). Coming to theaters almost exactly a year after the first movie’s release, Wicked: For Good‘s cast features the return of Ariana Grande-Butera as Glinda, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero.

Now, Universal Pictures has dropped the official trailer for Wicked: For Good. The trailer begins with glᴀss shattering as Glinda and Elphaba come face-to-face. Elphaba is not relenting in her war against the Wizard and dares to write “Our Wizard Lies” in the sky. The Wizard continues to spread propaganda about Elphaba and is seen commanding Dorothy and her companions to bring him Elphaba’s broom. Parts of the iconic song “For Good” are heard as the trailer highlights Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship, and Fiyero is seen as Captain of the Guard. Check out the footage below:

What This Means For Wicked: For Good

Elphaba And Glinda’s Relationship Is Tested Like Never Before

Wicked‘s ending places Glinda at the side of the Wizard and Madame Morrible while Elphaba takes a stand against Oz’s corrupt leadership. Despite being on seemingly opposite sides of this conflict, the trailer emphasizes that Elphaba and Glinda still care deeply for each other and the strength of their friendship will continue to endure in the sequel. Elphaba makes this clear by pointing out that her conflict is solely with the Wizard, along with glimpses of Elphaba and Glinda sharing several emotionally intimate scenes together.

From Glinda being known as the Good Witch to Fiyero being the Captain of the Guard, both have been elevated to high positions within Oz society, and they play these parts well in public. Glinda and Fiyero’s hearts still lie with Elphaba, though, which is evident in several points throughout the trailer. These elements are a promising sign that the second movie will be another faithful and rewarding adaptation of the Broadway musical.

Our Take On The Wicked: For Good Trailer

It Continues To Be One Of 2025’s Most Exciting Movies

Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba singing Defying Gravity while flying on broom in Wicked

The first Wicked movie defied high expectations and proved to be a brilliant adaptation that did the Broadway musical justice. The sequel’s official trailer indicates that this will continue by perfectly capturing the emotional, visual, and musical scale of the second act. Erivo and Grande continue to have excellent chemistry together, and I cannot wait to see all of their scenes together, especially when they sing “For Good.” Wicked: For Good continues to be my most anticipated movie of 2025, and that excitement has only been further affirmed by the trailer.
