Where To Watch Materialists: Showtimes & Streaming Status

A24’s latest project Materialists releases in movie theaters across the globe this week, starring Marvel actors Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. Materialists follows matchmaker Lucy (Johnson), who prides herself on finding a perfect match for everyone, even if her client says that economic status is an important factor for them. However, Lucy then finds herself genuinely torn between charming and wealthy Harry (Pascal) and her ex John (Evans). While audiences wait for reviews to come in, they are likely to be intrigued by the new take on a rom-com that delves into the material aspects of relationships.

Materialists’ marketing resurrected an old trailer style, and it was named one of ScreenRant‘s most anticipated movies of summer 2025, increasing hype for the high-class New York City aesthetics and a love triangle that seems both impossible and grounded. If that weren’t enough, the project is helmed by Past Lives’ writer and director Celine Song, all but guaranteeing this will be another unconventional and satisfying romantic drama. Most major U.S. movie theaters will be showing Materialists upon its release date, and you will hopefully also be able to watch it at home soon.

Materialists Releases In Theaters On June 13, 2025

Materialists’ June Theatrical Release Includes Some Global Markets

Materialists’ wide release is scheduled for June 13, 2025, with select theaters holding advance screenings earlier in the week. As enhanced screening options like Dolby Cinema, XD, and 3D are generally reserved for bigger action movies, and there are a few to compete with at the moment, Materialists will likely only be shown in 2D — but this will hardly take anything away from such a movie. Materialists’ release has also been delayed until July and August in some countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Materialists is rated R for language and brief Sєxual material.

When Will Materialists Release On Streaming?

A24 Streaming Releases Are Longer & Irregular

A24 signed a multi-year deal with HBO Max in 2023, guaranteeing streaming rights to the indie studio’s films, which has granted them streaming releases for popular тιтles such as Priscilla, Civil War, The Brutalist, and Babygirl in recent years. So, Materialists will likely be released on Max in the coming months. However, there has been much variation in how long it has taken A24 movies to go to Max, and it has generally been longer than the wait time for blockbuster movies. While Disney movies usually see around 100 days between theatrical and streaming releases, A24 has been closer to 120.

Priscilla saw a 119-day wait, The Zone of Interest 112, and Babygirl 122; but Civil War was 154 days and The Brutalist was 147 days. March 2025 film Death of a Unicorn has yet to be released on streaming, with a projected date of early August. Based on this data, Materialists will likely be streaming in four to five months, probably in late October to early to mid-November. Potentially, this longer wait will encourage people to see Materialists in theaters, when its mature storyline will mean fewer potential viewers, as parents aren’t going to take their children to see it.

When Will Materialists Release On Digital?

However, movies are also available on digital long before streaming, although again it varies among A24 movies regarding how long it takes for them to be available to rent and purchase. Priscilla took 49 days, The Zone of Interest 67, Babygirl 34, Civil War 42, and The Brutalist 60. For Materialists, audiences will probably be able to watch it in some form at home by the end of the summer, September at the latest. This would not be the only film of 2025 to essentially bookend the summer, coming across as though it is an attempt to capture a specific spirit of moviegoing.
