“Maybe In 20 Years…”: Bryce Dallas Howard Addresses Jurᴀssic World Return After Being Absent From Rebirth

Bryce Dallas Howard addresses a potential Jurᴀssic World return after being absent from Rebirth. The actress starred in the original Jurᴀssic World trilogy as Claire Dearing, the operations manager of Jurᴀssic World on Isla Nublar, who becomes the founder and head of the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization dedicated to saving the dinosaurs from a volcanic eruption. The upcoming Jurᴀssic World Rebirth will serve as a reboot of sorts, introducing a new cast of characters – played by Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey – who embark on a mission to the island of Ile Saint-Hubert.

During an interview with ScreenRant‘s Joe Deckelmeier for her new movie Deep Cover, which releases on Prime Video on June 12, Howard addressed a potential Jurᴀssic World return after Rebirth, saying the “door is always open.” For now, she is excited about Rebirth as a fan and supports the new cast. She’s open to returning, “maybe in 20 years,” but only if asked. Read her full comments below:

I think that the door is always open. It was so cool with Dominion getting to have the legacy cast back and working in the franchise. But the most important thing is that this is a story about dinosaurs and what if dinosaurs and human beings coexisted? It is not about a specific set of characters. So, for myself as a fan, I am so excited for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. I’m going to be there in the theater opening day, and they have an amazing cast. I mean, Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey. It’s going to be absolutely fantastic. So I’m excited. And then maybe in 20 years or something like that, if they ever asked, of course, I would be back in a heartbeat, but I think they know what they’re doing.

What Bryce Dallas Howard’s Comments Mean For Her Jurᴀssic World Return

Don’t Expect It Anytime Soon

Bryce Dallas Howard says the door is always open for her return, though she emphasizes that the Jurᴀssic World franchise is more about dinosaurs rather than specific characters. She loved working with the legacy cast in Dominion – including Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill – but is excited for Rebirth as a fan, which introduces a new cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. However, Howard is open to returning, “maybe in 20 years or something like that,” but only if asked, since she trusts the direction the filmmakers are taking.

Claire Dearing nor any other characters, including Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady, are returning in Rebirth. Instead, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth introduces a new cast of characters. This includes Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), an undercover agent who is enlisted by a pharmaceutical company to join forces with paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and mission leader Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) on a highly classified mission to infiltrate the restricted island of Ile Saint-Hubert, which was once used by InGen as a dinosaur research facility.

Our Take On Bryce Dallas Howard’s Jurᴀssic World Return

Rebirth Is Right Not To Bring Back Any Characters

By leaving Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing and other characters behind, Rebirth gives itself the rare chance to evolve beyond franchise repeтιтion. New characters mean new stakes, new emotional journeys, and a creative reset for the franchise. Rather than leaning on legacy characters, Rebirth is boldly focused on building its own idenтιтy. While familiar faces may return later on down the line, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is wisely prioritizing the future over the past, and that’s exactly what the franchise needs.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth releases in theaters on July 2.
