There are also a number of popular Prime Video original movies. In addition to тιтles that played in theaters before streaming on the platform, such as the Ben Affleck biographical drama Air and the Emerald Fennell thriller Saltburn, they have had a number of streaming exclusives reach a wide audience. These feature-length streaming тιтles include the Jake Gyllenhaal remake Road House, the Paul Feig thriller-comedy sequel Another Simple Favor, and the Nicholas Galitzine romance movies Red, White, & Royal Blue and The Idea of You.

Deep Cover Is Performing Well On Rotten Tomatoes

It Has Received A Raft Of Positive Reviews

Prime Video’s Deep Cover has won over critics. The new action-comedy movie, which was directed by British television comedy veteran Tom Kingsley (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats), follows three improv comedy performers who are hired to perform sting operations in London. The star-studded Deep Cover cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurᴀssic World), Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean), Nick Mohammed (Ted Lᴀsso), Ian McShane (John Wick), Paddy Considine (MobLand), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), and Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings).

Deep Cover was co-written by Jurᴀssic World director Colin Trevorrow, with his Jurᴀssic World co-screenwriter Derek Connolly as well as Ben Ashenden and Alexander Owen.

Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated 11 different critics’ reviews of the movie on the day of its Prime Video premiere and Deep Cover has debuted on the platform with a perfect 100% score. While this score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, critics have generally been rating it well, most often giving it scores between three or four stars out of five and praising its entertainment value, talented ensemble cast, and strong comedy.

These ratings include a 6 out of 10 score from ScreenRant‘s own Ben Sherlock. Read an excerpt from his Deep Cover review below:

Deep Cover is at its best when its three lead improvisers are in way over their heads in absurdly dangerous situations they’re completely unequipped for, whether they’re being chased by a machete-wielding street gang or sent to a morgue to chop up a corpse. It might be pretty forgettable, but thanks to its stellar lead actors — especially Bloom, who goes full psycho in the guise of a career criminal — it’s a fun ride.

What This Means For Deep Cover

It Has Greatly Exceeded Expectations

The fact that Deep Cover reviews have been embargoed until the premiere date could indicate that Prime Video had little confidence that critics would like the movie and wanted to avoid viewers seeing that it had a negative Rotten Tomatoes score during the lead-up to its release. However, it has so far made a surprise turnaround on those expectations.

While it may not maintain its 100% score as more reviews are aggregated, it seems on track to earn a solidly Fresh score nevertheless, given the overall tenor of its reviews.
