Disney’s Lilo & Sтιтch Box Office Is Now Less Than $200M Away From Joining A Major Club

Lilo & Sтιтch has pᴀssed another huge box office milestone. The 2025 movie, which is a live-action remake of Disney’s 2002 animated movie of the same name, has proven to be a box office powerhouse. The Lilo & Sтιтch release kicked off with a $146 million 3-day domestic debut that saw it earn the best Memorial Day weekend of all time, and it has since rocketed past a number of huge milestones, most recently pᴀssing $750 million on Sunday.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, by the end of Wednesday, Lilo & Sтιтch has earned a cumulative worldwide box office gross of $807.6 million. This total makes it just the third movie of 2025 so far to pᴀss the $800 million milestone, behind A Minecraft Movie and Ne Zha 2. It also brings the Disney movie within $192.4 million of pᴀssing the $1 billion milestone. If it does so, it will become the first Hollywood movie of the year to hit that threshold, because Minecraft stopped just short with a total that has currently reached $951.4 million.

What This Means For Lilo & Sтιтch

The $1 Billion Milestone Is In Its Sights

The fact that the movie has already hit this milestone shows that the Lilo & Sтιтch box office is continuing to rise at a rapid rate during its third full week in theaters. Having hit the $750 million milestone worldwide on Sunday and the $775 million milestone on Tuesday, the movie is currently rocketing up the chart at a rate of $25 million every two days, even though weekdays tend to be much less lucrative for ticket sales than weekends.

Lilo & Sтιтch‘s current worldwide gross comes from $348 million at the domestic box office and $459.6 million in international markets.

While Lilo & Sтιтch will face compeтιтion from DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon remake, which opens on June 13, the Disney live-action remake is still on track. Even if it takes a huge hit from its live-action compeтιтor and hits a major slowdown, it could become a billion-dollar movie by the end of June. It might not quite hit that goal, which would require it to earn an average of $21.4 million every two days, but its trajectory is nevertheless showing strong growth that should push it past the billion-dollar milestone sooner than later.

Our Take On The Lilo & Sтιтch Milestone

It Is Outstanding Even For A Disney Live-Action Remake

Even though many Disney live-action remakes have been lucrative, Lilo & Sтιтch is operating at a level that only a rare few have managed. Of the 20 previous live-action remakes Disney put in theaters, only four (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Alice in Wonderland) have ever crossed the billion-dollar milestone. This means that Lilo & Sтιтch will automatically be a part of the Top 5 if it makes $1 billion, proving the iconic blue alien’s ability to connect with audiences even 23 years after his debut.
