Elden Ring Movie’s Casting Report: Alex Garland In Talks With Warfare Star To Lead Adaptation

Alex Garland is reportedly eyeing Warfare star to lead his new A24 movie Elden Ring with Peter Rice, based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name. Set in a dark fantasy world, the game is based on a story written by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. Previously, it was announced that Martin would serve as a producer for Garland’s A24 movie alongside Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, and Vince Gerardis.

Per Deadline, Garland is in talks with Kit Connor, whom he worked with on Warfare, to headline the new film adaptation. It’s unclear what stages of negotiation they have reached, but according to sources, both are interested in exploring the option while still working out some key details, including scheduling.

What This Means For Elden Ring Movie Adaptation

Elden Ring Might Reveal Its First Key Cast Soon

Connor is most known for his breakout role in Netflix’s Heartstopper series, where he stars as Nick Nelson opposite Joe Locke’s Charlie Spring. Since then, he has easily become one of the rising young stars in the industry. For example, he has worked with Garland on Warfare, which features Charles Melton, Joseph Quinn, and Will Poulter. The star is also scheduled to appear in Netflix’s A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. In addition, Connor already has another Warfare cast reunion lined up with Poulter in the medieval zombie movie, Rapture.

With Martin’s involvement in Elden Ring and the video’s commercial success, the upcoming adaptation is one of A24’s high-potential тιтles. If a deal is reached between Connor and Garland, this could further push the Heartstopper star to critically acclaimed status and fantasy franchise stardom. Given the investment and the strong creative team, it’s also very likely that the upcoming adaptation will feature known names in the industry.

Our Take On Kit Connor’s Potential Casting

Kit Connor Could Be The Perfect The Tarnished

Connor’s potential casting is only the first piece of news that we’ll hear about Elden Ring. The franchise is currently at the stage of expansion with the launch of a spinoff video game, Elden Ring: Nightreign, coming up on May 30. It sounds like things are moving fast, which means it won’t be long before more solid news arrives.

The protagonist in Elden Ring is referred to as The Tarnished, a member of disgraced warriors who are banished from the Lands Between and are tasked with restoring the Elden Ring, a role that shares similarities to Connor’s character Tommy in Warfare. In the A24 war movie, Connor played a young recruit during the Iraq War. The actor was able to bring a realistic depiction of a new soldier experiencing the horrors of war, which means, if cast, he could potentially bring that level of realism into the fantasy movie.
